Early morning or late night drive?

Always early. If the drive is long enough I leave at 2am fairly often. Nobody is on the roads, get to where you’re going at sunrise. Of course I’m basically a 90 year old man and prefer to go to sleep at 8-8:30pm if I can.

A little humour for your day

I jumped a pickup with 2 pieces of barbed wire one time. Takes a little time and galvanizing burns off, but it’ll do in a pinch.

    Sunday Pic of the Day

My official quail catcher/relocation specialist. The dang things get blinded by the lights and won’t fly. When I get into a covey of them I spend more time catching them and throwing them along the fields than harvesting. Now that I have him along I don’t have to crawl down and chase them every...

    Proud pappa of sextuplets

I don’t have a problem with snakes. Bull snakes around here are a good thing, they do major damage to rats and mice in feed yards and bin sites. I catch them and throw them in the pickup toolbox to put them where there are rats. Only once have I put one in the toolbox and when I went to get it...

    Sunday Pic of the Day

I was a little spooked when I looked up on my hike down off the mountain one night and seen about 15 dots following each other across the sky in a perfect line. I guess it was musks Satellites. Looks like streaks in the pics, but it was dots real time.

    Shooting tripod or glassing tripod

I guess depending on every situation I’d different, but I carry the bare minimum. I’d say glassing tripod if needed. Every time I’ve shot at an elk there’s not even enough time to think of a tripod, it’s just a scramble to find a rock, tree, pack, etc to get steady on.

    Some peoples kids...

Too many video games and clicks for likes or thrills. They keep threatening that Russia or china will EMP us and kill the electrical grid. Other than not being able to see HT I’m all for it. The cave man had it better.

    Colorado Otc Hunting pressure

Also on otc I think people confuse skill with luck, I did. Thought I was the worlds greatest elk whisperer after pulling off an otc tag, turns out I’m your average shmuck.

    Colorado Otc Hunting pressure

I went deep into an area I thought I’d find elk doing elk things. 8 miles deep, up 1,800’ and every elk I saw was scared for its life. That day did a total of 17 miles, 3,400’ gained and lost. There’s nowhere that’s sacred anymore. In the dark on the way out a young kid asked me where I was and...
