Thanks for all of your responses. I’m still open to more criticism so if you have any thoughts please add them. I’ve been busy this last week and haven’t had time to respond to all of you questions. Before I start here’s a short statement that will hopefully prevent some of you from getting...
Tom,
Personally I really like your idea but it would probably be hard to get other hunters to support it. The F&G might also not like it because it would cost them extra money to do something like that.
The trick is to get an idea that very few people disagree with.
Everyone,
Thanks for...
I thought I might get criticized for posting my idea with a picture of me and my little buck. I'll try to explain my reasoning behind shooting a small buck and hope it makes sense to you.
I would have shot a doe instead but the total deer numbers in this area are below management objectives and...
I would like some feedback on my management idea. I'm not looking for an argument and I already know that it isn't as good of an idea as I think it is otherwise at least a couple of states would have a system like that in place already.
Now that I got you to look at this thread because there is a picture involved I have a long winded post about management. I don’t consider what I have written below to be “the solution”. I think it has potential and would like some feedback on some of my management thoughts.
Almost all of the...
Here’s a picture of my 2004 buck. I bagged him on the afternoon of last day of general rifle that I was able to hunt. Unfortunately I didn’t find a buck that I was willing put my tag on earlier in the season but I still had a very enjoyable 2004 hunting season...
The turkeys around Preston have been a true success story. Hopefully the places the F&G have planted turkeys in other parts of Eastern Idaho can even have half as successful as the Preston area. I think the area around Preston could support a general season but I would rather that the F&G...
The proposal that will affect me most is changing the spring controlled turkey hunt by Preston into a general season hunt.

hunter cameron,
I mostly fish for trout but I also target bass, panfish, sturgeon and anything else that swims in Eastern Idaho. I spend a fair amount of time fly fishing but probably spend more time using a spinning or baitcasting rod. I also like to shoot carp with my bow.
YoungBuck,
I normally only go shed hunting a couple times a year. Most years I find most of my sheds when I am actually hunt. This year I only went out shed hunting one day for about 3 hours and found 4 muley antlers. None of them came from bucks that would score over 180" but one of them had...
Bambistew,
Thanks for the pic. I was thinking about loading some accubond for next years hunts. Do you think they are as good of a bullet as Nosler claims or do you think Nosler is just trying to sell their product.
SuperSider,
Thanks for posting the pics. Montana sure has produced some huge bucks this year ;) . He doesn't look like he is a 218" typical to me but the pictures must make him look smaller than he really is. It looks like he has 15"-20" of trash which will bring his net score down. Great...
I've seen all of those pictures floating around for some time. Most of the time the poster or the person sending the email says that they are from utah. I really doubt the second pic is from the INEEL.
Congrats on the ram
Knowing my luck if I shot an animal on a steep mountain like that I would have naturally tenderized meat from it rolling to the bottom of the mountain.
Nice picture. There are a couple elk farms not far from Rexburg but I don't think it is from any of those because of the amount of water in the pic. If those are wild elk it would be a real sight to see.

I have been checking the F&G website every hour today. 7th strait year for me not drawing on deer, elk or antelope. There's always next year.
