I like everything I have had so far but I am a big fan of rabbit. My family thinks I’m weird and refuse to try it for the most part. One day I will get them to try it and I’d not, more for me.
Elk is good but I have not taken one myself. Step dad shot a cow elk in Nebraska and that was tasty.
I like to do it myself also. I know I am getting my animal, I know how it was taken care of and I just enjoy the process. not that you can’t trust a processor as there are many good ones. I guess I like the process more and it’s cheaper to do it yourself (depending on the equipment you buy)...
What is the best way you have found to store your reloading components? Do you leave it out on the bench, fill up a tackle box or other storage compartment, leave it on the shelves?
@6mm Remington Why pick the 140 e-tip over the 150 for the 7mag? Especially with quite a few recommendations for 160g bullets. Is this due to personal preference or is there a performance difference?
So I bought a cheaper tidewave binocular harness off amazon. It seemed like it was a good deal and would work but after trying it on it hangs real low and is pretty floppy. Is this normal or is it my payment for a cheap off brand? I think I can bust out the needle and thread to make it stay a...
Rather than hijack another thread on processing game thought I would start a new one. How did you learn and what resources would you recommend to process your deer? Not really talking about field dressing but more on the actual butchering and cutting into serving sizes.
I have been...
Smoked a venison leg roast and sliced it thick for breakfast sandwiches. Was too excited to eat it that I forgot to take a picture. The 1.5 year old like it so I’d say it was successful.
Both fair responses. Do you feel this way even if hunting from a blind or stand vs spot and stalk?
I definitely don’t plan to take shots I shouldn’t or am not confident with. My thought was that it could help, in conjunction with reading the arrow and blood trail on how long to wait. Maybe...
I’m sure this has been discussed before but curious what your preferred way to record the shots taken take on game. I am not looking to make videos, only to help confirm point of impact.
Ouch, I gave up on those this year. I could only find the 100grain locally. Ended up going with helix 125grain so we will see how that goes. Hopefully you get your Broadhead soon and they shoot well!
Growing up in the Midwest we never used game bags. Typically we were close enough to be able to drag the deer to an area we can get a truck. This year in Texas I won’t have that luxury based on terrain. I’ll have to hike about a mile and plan to carry it in a pack. I know this isn’t too far...
Check YouTube and you will find out..
Basically he is an eccentric/sarcastic guy that believes in high foc with arrows over 550 grains. I think he has some up to 1k. Follows the Ashby teachings of high foc. Pretty interesting to my novice bow hunting mindset.
Been looking for those also. My ethics inserts and test pack are on the way. We will see what the bow likes.
What made you guys pick that over a single bevel?
I was looking at that also. Bought the bag (No frame) then ended up going a different route. Seemed like pretty good construction for the price. Might be a bit louder than others but shouldn’t be a major issue.
What are you planning to use it for? Camping, meat hauler, both?
I’m currently shooting the diamond infinity bow. It is really adjustable and I think I paid less that $400 for the ready to hunt package. It’s the only bow I have owned but it seems to work well for me.
