Cabelas/Bass pro
They got me here in MD too. I have a BP about 5 miles from my house, yet I typically drive 2 hours to a Cabelas if I want something in person. BP is utterly terrible in so many ways.- 7Bartman

Bhunt, I couldn't agree more. I already take him out as much as I can. He's had the "fever" ever since he's been able to walk. He's already been on a few hunts with me and helped me track a few animals. I would hope he's got a few whitetails under him by the time we head out West. -

I plan on hunting Idaho OTC every September, but my youngest son (6 years old) really wants to go elk hunting. I've promised him I'll take him when he turns 12. I figure it's not too early to start applying for him and saving points so he can draw in a nice unit in 6+ years. I've watched... -

Backpack In or camp by the truck
I'll second what others have said about the camping vs. packing in. As for the spoilage, if you can find water nearby you can hang the meat over the stream or seal it in contractor bags and sink it in the stream. Try not to get the meat wet though. -

Solo Idaho Archery elk hunt 2017
Thanks. He grossed 280" and netted 268", despite his small thirds (apparently common in this region of Idaho). To me the real trophy is his age and of course the tenderloins! -

This was my second year. From what I learned last year I did more uphill sprints (from what little elevation I could find here in MD) compared to longer endurance runs. While this helped, the area I was hunting was really steep and had me sucking wind from time to time. -
