October 5-7 - Whitetail Archery in Oklahoma (weather dependent, could move a week later)
October 26 - Head to NM for 1st Rifle Mule Deer on public and an RO Elk the next week
November 11-12 - Whitetail Rifle Arkansas
Probably a good idea but you can also take the last lift up and the saddle up to a bar for an hour or two and let the crowds disperse a bit. That has been our go to for the last several years including before covid. Those busses can feel like an NYC subway at rush hour.
Furthest kill was about 55 yards on a whitetail. Closest was three on a turkey that I stuck to the ground and it jumped up and down on the arrow shaft until it expired. Average is 20-30. To follow @Valley1320 , my coolest kill was a shot Id never take again but I shot a whitetail at 35 yards...
One of my daughters located this in a Bozeman thrift store complete with a sweat band extending halfway down the brim. Not saying there's a hypocrite among us but apparently it was donated in a hopzone box.
I was interested too. According to the site, the 24 qt size weights about 12.5 lbs. For contrast, the yeti 24 weighs 13.1 lbs. Maybe that lessens as the cooler size increases but I was hoping for something pretty drastically lighter than a rotomolded. My 100 qt rotomolded weighs 45 lbs empty.
I do. I keep one in my pack throughout bow season. I subscribe to a "two is one and one is none" approach on those sorts of easy light things; although I will carry an extra bow or gun in the truck.
I would either try to get an extra cape from another taxidermist/ebay or consider moving to a pedestal mount. However, the driftwood is a good idea as well.
