I would take a look at the new Athens bows. They lowered their prices this year. If they don't have a dealer in your area, one of their shooter staff will let you test drive their own bows.

I had the moose tag in HD 111 (which is 102 for elk) this past fall. Saw one cow elk in two weeks of hunting. Lots of whitetails and wolf sign. Looked like good elk country but density appeared to be really low.
I have one and as far as I know it puts you in the resident pool. You have to pay nonresident license prices, though.

It's a state park. Highly doubt there are plans to sell it. Herd dying is a disappointment for sure. Given the location, I am sort of puzzled how they got sick in the first place.
I apply in nine states and almost every species. If I draw tags in the earlier state's draws (like WY or AZ elk), then I'll shift to applying for lower odds hunts. It definitely gets costly, however I only do DIY and I usually draw 1 or 2 good tags for the year.
