    IIIIIIIMMMMMMM BACK

We had a zero one go vertical with an M79. A time I wished I was an ant. He went over to supply. Cheney shot his lawyer on a pheaseant hunt in SD. I let my wife shoot my carry pistol once.☠ I knew there was a reason I like to hunt alone. 🤯

    SIG BDX system question

I think being able to dial-up is huge. Up until recently I was using an old VX2. Never lost zero and I never missed. 300 to 450 yds on pronghorn was no problem with the standard duplex. Didn't even consider a new scope. However my eyes aren't what they used to be and I don't see very well in low...

    New hunting rifle

I have an original T3 in 270 win from 2005. The rifle has brought down everything I have put in the crosshairs. The only problem I have had with it is I don't want to shoot anything else. Great choice on scope.

    Ballistic calculator

Another vote for strelok pro. The database is vast and supports virtually every reticle as well. Get a Weatherflow for the ear jack and you have a complete firing solution. The brits have a good video: The wind has been that that one variable to conquer.

    New Mexico 16C 2020 2nd Rifle

Thanks for sharing your hunt. Sometimes the elk win....I reckon that's why it's hunting and not shooting. The way it worked out, the ground was so warm that only a few inches of snow stuck. Mud and ponding the next day wasn't an issue, where I am anyway. It was unusually hot in the 16s and the...

    A Gila Elk Hunt

Ya know it really was fun. I was determined to be comfortable on this hunt. A decent bed, cooked meals, a warm tent, hotwater made a big difference in my attitude and my ability to put forth the best effort. I can't get around like I used to, so the hikes were not long or very steep. I was...

    A Gila Elk Hunt

This was not just a do-it-yourself hunt on public land, but a do-it-by-yourself hunt as well. Scouting is a big part of my hunts so this adventure started with scouting. I live close to the Gila units and as long as I can talk the wife into doing the ranch chores, I can scout at my leisure. The...

    Bugle Report

I was hoping that the cold front that moved through Sunday evening would excite the bulls and it did. They were bugling in the area I was in until I left at about 9.30am. I couldn't see them and I was not going to chase them. I ended up in an area about 8 miles from the first where the bulls...

Which stove you prefer with wall tent?

I opted for the camp chef cylinder stove with water heater. Yup, it's heavy which is the way I like it. I bring my own wood in. Won't chop wood out there, too many other things to do. I do saw wood for the camp fire though. My wall tent weighs about 120ibs. I haul my camp in with a trailer...

New Mexico Elk Hunt Unit 16E

Even the locals don't get to hunt the Gila often enough to know the area very well. It has been hot and dry so water is definitely an issue. The smaller tanks are all dried up. About 2 out of every 3 large tanks that I have visited that usually hold water are dry. The flies have been relentless...

    Bugle Report

The bullfights are on in the Gila! I think a lot of tags were filled this past weekend since yesterday I saw quite a few trucks with racks and meat coming out.

New Mexico Elk Hunt Unit 16E

I went by 16E this morning. They are screaming their heads off! The bull fights are on in the Gila! This little guy from 16E tried to pick a fight with my truck...he eventually walked off. I was on my way to Apache Creek from Datil. I saw some big racks coming out this morning. Quite a few...

    NM Unit 34 Late Season

Last mid-December not far from the lincoln. Actually the lincoln up above 7k got twice as much snow that day: Will get snow in December. The photo is the first week of December last year. The Lincoln got twice as much as we did that day. The fire restrictions have been lifted for Lincoln and...
