They were a joint venture between Winchester and Nosler, and haven't been sold in quite some time. They differ a bit from regular partitions, but should still perform well. As I recall, these bullets had the partition moved a bit forward, and also had a piece of steel added to the back side of...
Black bear at about 15 feet.
Another hunter had wounded it, and it went into the brush. As I was more experienced with that sort of thing, I went into the brush to find and finish the bear. Remember hearing it moving and not being able to see it. Then I could hear it breathing but still...
I use a level on my long-range target rifle, but otherwise... No, never felt the need. Not even for varmint shooting at longish ranges.
Can one help? I suppose so, but an awful lot of excellent shooting has been done on the range and in the field, without a level on the rifle.

375 H&H Winchester Model 70 built by Michael Scherz, Gila River Gun Works. Douglas barrel. Quarter rib. Michael's own scope mounts made for Talley QD rings, Walnut with straight grain through the wrist & forearm, Australian Leathewood forend tip. Probably my nicest rifle, and I really don't have...
Recently put a lightly used 3.5-10x Leupold on Brandy, the 20 year old Ruger 1-S Medium Sporter I purchased last winter. Also had some 160 grain handloads to try at the range.
Dog and I put the rifle in the Jeep and headed to the gun club for some shooting! Sighted the rifle in at 25 yards...
Washington's bear season starts August 1st, right around the corner!
My son and I have done well on black bear here in Washington before and I hope to hunt pretty seriously for bear again this year. No baiting allowed. No hound hunting either here. So, it's "spot and stalk" for the most part...
Never heard any bullets called "resin tips" before, but I'd guess you're talking about Nosler Accubond or Ballistic Tip bullets?
If so, you're in luck, Nosler has put their reloading data online, free:

I've used the 165 grain Nosler...
Wyoming has been good to me in the past, and I hope for successful results in this year's draw. Hoping to hunt mule deer & pronghorn in October.
Over the past 20 years, I've made seven Wyoming hunts:
1 - 6x6 bull elk
4 - pronghorn bucks
6 - mule deer (one was a doe)

For my purposes, a 12' Perception Pescador, a sit-on, made for fishing, works great.
A few days ago I went 9 miles on the Columbia River, half upstream, half back down with the current. It was just peachy. Took me about 3 hours to do the 9 miles.
I use it for recreation, photography, and...
I've never shot one that I'd consider a real "monster" but I've sure enjoyed hunting mule deer over the years. Mostly here in Washington, but with some trips to Wyoming as well.
And I tell ya - we do enjoy the steaks & roasts! :)

The 7mm Rem Mag is a great all-around "western" hunting cartridge. It'll do just fine, like it has for 50 years.
I'll be taking my 7mm RM, Ruger Number One, with handloaded 140 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips this year. Going for mule deer & pronghorn. Your 160's should be just peachy.

Craig - you post some amazing moose photos! Thank you!
Took this one today while walking the bird dog, only a few miles from home. He's convinced that she's a really big dog, and if he works hard enough at it, she'll play with him. Sigh...
I talked with the Jackwagon owner a while ago. He's building an occasional trailer, but no longer on a regular basis. There are an awful lot of other good off-road trailers available though. You might look at Highland Expedition Outfitters. Jeff is a good guy and builds a great trailer, similar...
Nice! Thanks for the photos.
I've been using Nosler bullets for most of my hunting since the mid 1970's. Partitions, Ballistic Tips and Accubonds. They've always performed well for me. I have some 25 and 30 caliber E-Tips on hand, but haven't tried them yet.
