Anyone know what the diffs between these two are?
I’m looking for a whitetail rifle, either in .243 or .308, for treestand hunting in the northeast.
Which one would be better and why?
Also, how is the durability of the sporter. The model 70 has an all weather model (stainless barrel...
Can you put the safety on before loading?
Basically I’d like a rifle where I can engage the safety, load it, keep the safety on until I’m ready to take a shot, pop it off, and fire away.
Can this savage do that? I don’t care much about looks. Effectiveness and price trumps that IMO. If also...
I really like the Winchester model 70 featherweight but am leaning more towards the all weather version.
However, at $1,100, that seems like a stretch.....
Are there any other sub $700 rifles that have a 3 position safety (ie you can load the rifle with the safety on).
Thanks.
Yes this. Sht happens. One could drop the rifle from a treestand. Kids could make mistakes etc.
Are there any Tikka models that allow for the safety to be on when loading and unloading???
I'd like to switch the safety to on while loading and unloading the rifle so there is no way it can fire by accident (I forget the name, is this a 3 position safety?).
The Tikka's safety only engages once the rifle is loaded :(
1) Is there a kit that I can use to modify the safety? If so...
Yeah but having to take off the safety to unload the rifle sucks. What if you drop it in the process from your treestand? This seems like a really poor design. I have no idea why Tikka would not include a 3 position safety......
Can you only engage the safety while the rifle is loaded and in the firing position? If so how come? Seems like a better system to be able to engage the safety and still load/unload etc, all the time while the safety is permanently engaged???
