Sorry to resurrect this ancient old thread that is 21 days old! 😁
But inquiring minds want to know...what cartridge did you decide on? or are you leaning towards? or just thinking about?
What kind of F.O. front sight do you use, Hunter? I bought a Lyman 17A globe front sight but read some trouble people had with them in low light so never installed it.
I've been so busy looking into other gun projects, I'm not sure if I mentioned or even posted this but finally got the Williams peep on the renegade awhile back. Haven't shot it yet, but soon I hope. Supposed to help with mature eyes.
Awhile back I asked a similar question about my tang safety Ruger, but specifically about Pac-Nor barrels and their work. All were good reviews.
That said, I don't think anyone mentioned p-ham's work. Since I haven't taken the leap yet, I'll have to get in touch and see what he has to say.
Thanks for the info. Good to hear about a more recent job.
Could be a money thing, e.g. $100,000 modern CNC gets you .05 thousandths machine, same money refurbish gets you .02 thousandths. IDK
A few season back Randy mentioned doing a show on a planned caribou and ptarmigan hunt in Alaska - the Brooks Range IIRC. Anybody know if the hunt/show ever materialized?
That's kind of a bucket list hunt for me and was really looking forward to it.
Thanks guys. I'm glad to hear of your good experiences with the. Sounds like they do good work and are good to work with. I'll either go back with .30-06 or maybe .35 Whelen.
wisconsinteacher, I'll keep your experience in mind.
Four22, Ha ha ha! I never thought of that one. The name is...
I'm thinking of having an old tang safety Ruger M77 .30-06 rebarreled and am looking at having Pac-Nor Barrels in Oregon do the work.
Anybody have personal experience with their barrels and the quality of their work?
Thanks!
