    A tale of two rifles

It's more common than Remington should allowed. Easy fix though, if that's the problem and it'll be a fine shooting rifle. Good luck.

    A tale of two rifles

Check that the extractor is properly seated. It could be that the cartridge is riding on the extractor and not seating on the bolt face.

What to do with a dead head?

That's a tough one. I really like the look of an elk 'euro' with really dark antlers and whitened skull. But this one looks really cool just the way it is.

Hooked into this gator last night

Fried gator tail is awesome, but I preferred blackened on the grill. The legs in a sauce piquante is a favorite of mine. Also, I'm going to try smoking the ribs.

Hooked into this gator last night

There are many techniques that can be used. Here in Georgia, you are required to have the gator restrained, pulled in close and dispatched by handgun or bangstick. This is to keep people from shooting over open water with a rifle. You can use bowfishing gear, snatch hook, harpoon... You can...

Hooked into this gator last night

It's similar but there are some big differences. First thing I learned long ago is to get the gator on ice or in a cooler for at least 12 hours to prevent major muscle movement during skinning. I used to have a video (I can't find it) of a gator still thrashing it's tail while cleaning it 2...

    Blood stain Antler

The antlers are good. If you want to get the blood off, try some peroxide. But if you plan on "staining" them, just leave it like it is till you're ready and color over the blood.

Hooked into this gator last night

My gator season got off to a bad start. My preferred spot was a limited 3-day only hunt, so if I didn't tag out there, I'd have to search for another area to fill my tag. Unfortunately, on the first night, my boat motor sucked up some coon-tail moss and I couldn't get the water pump to act...

    9/11/2001 - Where were you?

I was at Incirlik AB, Turkey. I had just got off from work and received a phone call to turn on my TV and standby. Me and a couple of friends watched events unfold with a lot of mixed emotions and we thought... it's finally happened and things are about to change.

    AITA (Am i the @$$hole)?

Life happens and things change over time. When you have a family, the path ahead requires compromise. But it's not compromise if only one person is making most of the accommodations. It sounds like you've made plenty of concessions along the way. I'd say a long, hard talk is in order to find...

    Lab traits

You have to train them early. Once they figure it out, they listen very well. If you can't help them figure it out, they can be some of the most hardheaded of dogs. I've had 8 of them over the years. The ones I had as kid never had good training and it showed. They wouldn't listen for spit...

Most unorthodox, questionable, or down right weird hunting techniques that you have seen or heard about

I was told a story once of a guy who would find an area frequented by turkey. He would run string between trees with fishing hooks hanging off (think of a trotline) at turkey height. Then he spread corn in the area and then come back later for the birds that snagged themselves on the trotline.

Touch base with your military vets that served in the Sandbox.

After a couple of military deployments to Afghanistan, I knew most of what we were doing there was a waste. It wasn't until I went back as a civilian contractor that I realized how bad it was. I spent three years with a program that trained the Afghan Air Force on how to fly and maintain their...
