I was itching to buy a 300, for no real reason other than just to have one. A lot of you are much too logical and I know the 30-06 does all I need so you saved me some money. At least in the short term. I’m sure there’s something else hunting related I could use that money toward and get more... -

There’s obviously no “need” for a 300. Some of the thought behind getting one is to do it now before a certain office changes hands, policies changing and pricing going up. -

Who knows. It would be mainly cosmetic anyways. Maybe a little better fit with a new stock? Mostly whitetails, but mule deer this year, antelope and elk depending on what gets drawn each year. -

Hypothetically of course, you own a 30-06, happy with the rifle and scope on it now. Do you buy another of the same rifle in 300 win mag OR spend that money on upgrading the stock and barrel on the 30-06? Also you live in the east and hunt out west once a year if that makes any difference. -

First western hunt. * Poor access unit. Putting boots on the ground, being able to glass, and having the ability to make things happen as opposed to waiting to see what comes to you is a MUCH better way to hunt. Officially hooked. -
shortages
Ammo has been nearly non existent here since March or so. If a major even goes left in 3 weeks, you may as well change the title to “extinct” instead of a “shortage” bc it will be so hard to come by.- jt4

I do use zip ties around the hindquarter tendon in my home state, just seems like each state has their own most common practice. what about for other animals that take more than one trip?
