I was itching to buy a 300, for no real reason other than just to have one. A lot of you are much too logical and I know the 30-06 does all I need so you saved me some money. At least in the short term. I’m sure there’s something else hunting related I could use that money toward and get more...
There’s obviously no “need” for a 300. Some of the thought behind getting one is to do it now before a certain office changes hands, policies changing and pricing going up.
Who knows. It would be mainly cosmetic anyways. Maybe a little better fit with a new stock?
Mostly whitetails, but mule deer this year, antelope and elk depending on what gets drawn each year.
Hypothetically of course, you own a 30-06, happy with the rifle and scope on it now. Do you buy another of the same rifle in 300 win mag OR spend that money on upgrading the stock and barrel on the 30-06?
Also you live in the east and hunt out west once a year if that makes any difference.
Lightly used. Threaded barrel with brake. I’ll ship it with medium and low Talley rings. (Scope and train set not included) I do have a VX-5 2-10x42 duplex with CDS that could be included for the right price.
You must live in a state and have an FFL that will accept transfer with a copy of my...

I’ll update with more pictures later.

First western hunt. * Poor access unit.
Putting boots on the ground, being able to glass, and having the ability to make things happen as opposed to waiting to see what comes to you is a MUCH better way to hunt. Officially hooked.
Ammo has been nearly non existent here since March or so. If a major even goes left in 3 weeks, you may as well change the title to “extinct” instead of a “shortage” bc it will be so hard to come by.
I do use zip ties around the hindquarter tendon in my home state, just seems like each state has their own most common practice.
what about for other animals that take more than one trip? Do you just cut the zip tie and put it with on the next piece you haul out or keep it in your pack so you...
The carcass coupon states, “If the coupon is removed for transportation, it must be in the possession of the person accompanying the carcass.”
If I’m fortunate enough to get a buck and a doe, I’m guessing I can leave the carcass coupon attached to the antlers of the buck. With the doe/fawn...
hang your stand on a tree about two feet off the ground. Hook up your harness on and attach to the tree above your head or at forehead level like you would if you were 15’ up. Physically make yourself fall off of your stand. See how far you fall and how easy or hard it is to get back into your...
Planning to make my pronghorn hunt this year into a backpack hunt for 2-4 nights. Am I the only one that would do this for a hunt that seems like such a road or truck hunt.
The goal is to give my gear a test run before some more serious trips in the following years. Any tips?
I've owned both, and at the exact same time actually. There is absolutely no difference in the two besides the color of the armor and maybe a little grip texture.
As for the locking diopter, it's completely unnecessary. Neither one ever moved without purposely moving it to set it.
Keep an...
