Even if it's not required I usually wear an orange hat, turkey/waterfowl would be the exception. I'm amazed by the number of people I see each year not wearing orange when it's required. Here in PA you have to wear a vest and hat during big game seasons, I've watched guys putting on drives...
I agree TexAg, I've seen boots in the bargain cave that look like they were worn for a week long hunt and returned. These boots still had all the original tags on them, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought em. They had six or eight pairs of Meindl's, all with the tags still on them and...
Was in the Cabela's store today, wandered into the bargain cave and the had some of their Meindl Alaskan boots on closeout, looks like they're discontinuing some of the styles. Picked up 2 pair for less than $100/pr. Figured I'd let everyone on here know, as I'd guess some of the other Cabela's...
Should be able to find trout in the feeder creeks and the inlet for Seneca Lake, which runs right through Watkins Glen. NYS DEC has established access points to some of the streams in the area.
The lake itself holds just about every type of fish, but shore fishing would be difficult since...
Yep, had the same problem with Federal Trophy Bonded Tips in my 300 WSM A Bolt. Picked up a box of 165's and 180's to try, 165's chambered fine, couldn't get the bolt to close with the 180's.
Have to agree with most of what's been posted, but I highlighted the two biggest factors I see with the guys I hunt with. Most of them are in the early 40's with young to teenage age kids. Trying to get any of them to go for a half day of either hunting or fishing is next to impossible, much...
In some cases you may be able to park the toyhauler in a location and then ride the atv/utv from there, that's what the wife and I did the other year in CO. This year we'll be out there but hunting a different area where we can't ride directly from the toyhauler so I'm renting a 5x8 trailer for...
I have a wood stocked lightweight hunter in 260 and I really like it. Accuracy is pretty good and nice to carry. My only real complaint is the bolt isn't the smoothest compared to most other manufacturers. Just picked up another one in 243, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I'm sure...
Is the deer draw officially done and they've moved on? Three of us applied but only 2 are showing the 591 code, the other is still at 491. Just wondering if there's still a chance they haven't drawn all the deer tags yet.
Little backstory, I travel a lot for work, and in my travels I'll usually stop at Cabela's, Bass Pro, gun shops, etc. if I see them along the way. Find some pretty interesting shops in out of the way places.
So, I had to travel to Erie, PA today, and when leaving town noticed a Gander Mountain...
I've hunted both 1st and 2nd season rifle in 49. 2nd season was busy, as they hand out a lot of deer tags for that area, plus it's a popular place to camp/ride ATV's. I saw elk opening day of 2nd season, after that, nothing.
I've had the wood stocked version in 260 for a couple years now and really like it, so much that recently I couldn't pass up a good deal on another one in 243. Very accurate with the factory ammo I've tried. If you shop around, I've seen these sell for way below retail.
