Start a business to hunt more?

One of the more successful business owners I know in my field works 5+ days a week and has created more problems for himself than he knows how to handle. He enjoys his reputation in the community and makes great money but his practice ties him down. He’s chained to the chair! I made the choice...

Population Growth and Hunting in Rocky Mountain States

Seems on par with the type of folks I know moving that way…angry, bitter, and on a mission to create their utopia. Definitely a product of polarized politics.

Yes, their practices influence nearby communities.

    Will eating meat become illegal?

Will never be illegal but meat substitutes and lab grown meat will continue to increase in prevalence. Maybe for the best, honestly. I’ve always believed you should be able to kill, or kill, what you eat - it adds intrinsic value and gives meaning to your food. Too many people are missing that...

Is there a (deer) doctor in the house?

Gnarly. I've seen that in people with severe periodontal disease. In people the maxilla is more spongy and porous when compared to the mandible. There is usually a corticated "plate" of bone on the outside of the maxilla, what we refer to as the "buccal plate". In more severe periodontal disease...

Unconventional Food Plot Ideas for Deer?

No personal experience but this guy from the MW has great content. I’ve done a fair amount of research for an eventual project at our Michigan property and have seen a native shrub by the name of Red Osier Dogwood mentioned several times. Aside from deer interest, they are loaded with berries...

    Health Insurance

Bingo. In my profession clinicians tend to target and fight over the segment of population with money, and much of the ‘stuff’ done, doesn’t need to be done in the first place, sadly. It’s not really healthcare. The large portion of society that actually needs dental ‘stuff’ is often priced...

    Gift Ideas under $100

Folstaf wading staff has been one of my favorite things for years. I got it for steelhead fishing but use it for everything. Most recently came in handy for packing elk out in slippery snow. Folds up compactly, lightweight, does not have weak joints like other models and can be found for under 100.

    Sunday Pic of the Day

Female acorn woodpecker. They hammer acorns into storage trees called granary trees - note all of the small holes. Really neat oak specialist!

    Barnes copper bullets?

Thank you, I will keep an eye on them. I called Barnes directly a month ago and his advice was to watch ammoseek.com very closely. Appreciate everyone’s help.

    What are you currently reading?

One I finished earlier this year was ‘Where do camels belong’ by Ken Thompson. Really interesting and well done book. The main premise is centered around invasive species and how we tend to omit data based decisions when managing them. I read the book because it specifically challenged some of...

    Barnes copper bullets?

Thanks for the info. I used 2 bullets pre-season to verify accuracy and you’re right, that will eat up my remaining ammo in no time. Glad I have a year to solve this problem. Any alternative copper ammo recommended here?
