Here in NM, the only way I have found to have any success with stuff like this is to get a word of mouth confirmation. Of course, a lot of folks here don't even have a website.

Not disingenuous. If a landowner gets $5K for a tag, what of that money goes to support the herd? Somewhere between zero and something, but definitely below $5K.
Don't for a minute think that $5K is a high price, they can go for much more. Again, NMDGF sees none of that, just the license and...
The interesting part of all this is that you're missing where the money goes. Instead of a limited number of tags being sold by the state to NRs at a price commensurate with what other western states charge, we see thousands spent for tags that go to landowners pockets. How does that benefit...
Lying?
That is a very big word.
My guess is your willingness to toss a word like that on this forum is inversely proportional to your willingness to do it in person. Internet warrior.
Lying. I know whether or not I am doing so. But idiot, that problem is one that you will never realize...
The amount of greasy money flowing through NM politics cannot be outdone. We sit on one of the fattest bank accounts of all of the states, yet 25% of our population lives in poverty. Politicians get a "walking money" handout, to simply give away to patrons. The difference between the "swells"...
I was blessed to have a dr appointment the very morning my shingles started to erupt. Hit me with anit-virals right then - may be one of the few in the universe that had a mild case.
Karma. Came down with Giardiaisis the day after a vastectomy. Once the squirts were under control (18#...
Gonna jump in here, and raise the BS flag. What abqbw says is correct.
You will find that outfitters will often not outfit "regular" NM residents because of the fear their hidey holes will be exposed. Right there you limit how many of those pay to play tags can even be accessed by residents...
Like most issues we encounter that are on a scale this grand, there is no simple solution. There are guys like Hank that manage their property for elk, and who are not in the game for the money that can be had. But there are far more that are not like that - look again at that 55% figure for...
We are among those that would love to retire to Montana. Seeley Lake occupies a large portion of fond memories for us from just a single two-week camping vacation. In looking at homes in Western Montana, we find that even as moderately well heeled retirees, it will be too expensive. Hard to...
I have actually touched an in-line twice. Once when it was given to me, once when I gave it away (oops, four times, it had to go in and out of the car). Traditional is the only way I roll, but I would recommend the 50. It is easy to reduce the load, but topped out the 45 will not match the...
Socializing with adults is the best thing for them. Yes, play times with kids their age is nice, but growing them up with adults (well, 'good' adults) is essential.

So many broken pieces of the NM system. OnX allows you to see who is in EPlus with unit-wide tags, therefore being required to allow hunters on the properties. In a unit in northern NM, in an area we have hunted often, all of those properties are posted and gates chained and locked.

OK. As a resident of my state, I still stand on the opinion that nonresidents should receive no more than 10 or 15 percent of tags. The way it is run here benefits the few financially, with resident hunters having fewer opportunities than non-residents in the case of elk. Just go buy a tag...
Residents should get priority in their states. Just the way the game is, and should be, played. From paying for the roads, to managing the herds, the money to support the hunt comes from the residents.
'Course, I'm in New Mexico, where half of our tags go out of state or to the outfitted...
Only reason I wear camo is that I bought stuff that fit and it was camo, and it hasn't worn out yet. Non-camo gets mixed with camo based on what has worn out and what is comfortable.
Wearing some camo britches now to go fishing. Not to sneak up on the fish, they are comfortable, best cargo...
What the chart does not take into account is how the dog was raised. Many Pitbulls are raised to be a macho-man's dog, baddest on the street, and a substantial percentage of those are allowed or encouraged to fight. Get the fighting dog count out of there, and I would wager those numbers would...
Life without sacrifices, does it exist?
Maybe you can't live in Bozeangeles right out of college, instead have to look at Cornhole, Iowa where you can afford to live. None of us are owed a challenge-free life. Not even me, or you.
Parents figure in to this calculation. Pressuring your...
