I’m hopefully going on my first archery solo elk hunt in Wyoming and I’m curious what everyone is using for an Oh Sh!+ plan. SOS button communication type of thing. I’m not really interested in buying an expensive thing but realize it might be a necessary investment.
I’m in tan even worse pickle. Hoping to draw first elk tag, with my bow , going solo because nobody wants to go with me. Very limited knowledge but like the other person said. If you wait for others you probably won’t go….so I’m taking the plunge.
I shoot the trophy copper 3” 12 ga down my 24” fully rifled barrel and have killed 12+ deer. Tons of pass throughs at varying distances and extremely lethal. Love the flat shooting and the non lethal part even better that they seem to hold together and not send lead shrapnel into the meat.
I won’t be able to make more than one trip. Traveling from MN but I’d like to find a place I can get familiar with. Something not crazy difficult so I can introduce my wife and kids to western hunting in the future. Call it an adventurous grocery trip lol
I’m tempted to go out scout around and find permission then run to town buy my tag and go back and hunt. Not sure if that is a feasible option but something to research. I think in MN you can’t hunt the same day of buying your license.
It’s definitely because it’s a hard unit. Little public hunting access. But it’s a 1/3 the price of CO otc bull tag which I might be looking at this year as well. Kinda last minute invite.
I’m looking at picking up a leftover Wyoming cow tag. From my very brief research any tags yet available are otc? I’m non resident from MN so I will be calling Wyo to verify. Wondering what is the best plan of action. Head out and start pounding public with the masses? Try knocking on doors and...
I just applied for a leftover tag in area 10. First out of state hunt, kinda applied on a shot in the dark. Was wondering if you went and had any success? Access tips? Have OnX but have never put boots on the ground.
I seen awhile back you had your first Antelope hunt in Wyoming. I have 4 points this year also from MN was wondering if you had any tips? Not looking for honey holes just something I could take the family on a western adventure and maybe bring home some meat.
But which one? I can’t decide on a specific pack. I hear you need to try them on but nobody in my area has any in stock. I live in the upper Midwest and backpacking and or backpack hunting is a rarity.
I’ve been narrowing it down and searching and researching but I think I have settled on a mystery ranch 70L ish pack. Sierra seems to have the best prices and options. Sphinx, Terraplane or Glacier.
Multi day camping family trips where I’ll be hauling more than my fair share and multi day...
Just purchased a Howa 1500 Hogue Gameking in .270 with a scope package. Bid at $450 kind of on an impulse. Did I make the right choice? Was looking at other budget entry level rifles as this is my first big caliber center fire. Stressing over the purchase and telling the wife lol

Good point. I didn’t think about an echeck I just chalked it up to the cost of playing. My Wyoming buddy has an area he is familiar with. My job schedule limits me on my hunting time frame so it’ll be opening weekend plus a couple days. So it’s gonna be all antelope.
Ok that’s what I have been reading I just wanted to double check. Wyoming is almost as confusing as MN. No draw stuff in MN but they make up for it in other areas lol thanks madtom
Looking at doing a first time Antelope hunt in Wyoming with some old college buddies. Planning an elk hunt for 2020 if things work out. One buddy from Cheyenne Wyoming and one from Colorado. My question is which antelope tag do I buy? I’m from MN no points yet there is antelope full price and...
