It’s been awhile since I took the 270 on a elk hunt. Did use the accubonds. Didn’t shoot an elk that trip but did shoot a nice muley. It was devastating. Clean kill.
Been in the insurance biz for years now. Best security system by far is a dog, not even close. Unless you are gonna live reasonably close to law enforcement, the security systems are really just fancy noise makers. The scum bag is at home looking through his loot by the time the police show up...
mine has kind of varied over the years. Did some coaching, grew up on a farm and continued to farm after I moved away up until about 5 years ago, collect some knives, enjoy yard work and gardening, enjoy grilling/smoking, traveling with the boys and watching them play ball.
I would have to agree. Haven’t hunted as much as mtmuley, about half, but their smells are distinctly different. I grew up on a cattle farm, maybe the urine smells somewhat similar because they do graze but a elk in general smells like an elk, very unique.
Is a basement an option? If so, I would add a safe room- from storms, lock up valuables, guns, etc.. workshop area in garage or basement. Large office with a vaulted ceiling so I can hang mounts and not have to listen to the mrs complain.
I was in law enforcement as most of my family and many friends. Name it, and we’ve seen or heard it in regards to gun violence. 30 day wait period won’t change a thing. If a criminal or anyone intending harm wants a gun do you really think they are worried about a wait period. Nope, they are...
I’m ok with cost increase. Hell I’m already driving across the country and spending a few k. What’s another few hundred. What sucks is cutting the tags. We will go from hunting every 3 years to every 6. Guess I’ll need to come up with a plan b for next year. Had planned on Wyoming with my son in...
We drive 32 hours. Cheap coolers with regular ice. Leave the drain plug partially open. Meat is in contractor bags. If the temps are cool on the way home you may only have to add ice once.
Yep. Most of the contractors here can’t accurately quote jobs because materials aren’t available and what is available they are seeing price increases about every 2 weeks.
went to the store yesterday to get a little trim paint and a few supplies, normally $50 purchase, cost me $80. Insane...
243 is probably the most accurate gun in my safe and a joy to shoot. Couldn’t guess how many deer it’s killed, including both son’s first deer. It’s plenty of rifle, just pick the correct bullet.
7mag is the min elk caliber, wrong there too.
