I've never touched either smokes or chew and am glad for that. I just dropped in to send good vibes and wish you the best of luck. Sounds like you've got lots of support here and good reasons for kicking the habit. Good on you for taking positive steps to improve your health! I'm pulling for you!
Only you can really answer this question, but you've got a lot of solid advice here.
Go to the wedding. No way do you get out of this without hurt feelings somewhere that will likely not ever fully recover. Ideally, you'll figure out how to do both.
Good luck!
This has been a really interesting read. Confirmation that everyone is different and has different reasons for doing what they do.
For me, I enjoy the planning, but it's hard to beat spending time in the woods with good friends. Game on the ground is icing on the cake, but having good buddies...
I managed to draw my third choice archery elk tag. One tough hunt is better than no hunts!
Pretty bummed for my son who struck out all around this year.
Congratulations to everyone seeing green!
I saw a post on another forum from a NMGFD employee (widely known that he works there) where he said that there were (again) a record number of applications this year. For the 2020 draw there were around 220,649 applications, which was a record over previous years. For 2021 there are about...

Congratulations! Enjoy every second of it. My advice - take lots of pictures....of everything (scouting trips, camp, friends who go along, scenery, everything). I never seem to do enough of this and always regret it afterwards.
Not sure how much web searching you've done, but there is another forum dedicated to Expedition/Overland adventures. There is a trailer section of that forum with many DIY builds in it, several of which are exactly what you are talking about. Since these folks are all looking at using their...
What purpose could this possibly serve? I'm all for promoting safety while hunting, but this makes absolutely no sense at all.
And it's sad that I'm a little surprised that they don't charge you for that sticker.
They go where I go. I think it's more important to make sure that they have a good time. Filling the tag is just a bonus. When they are young (like mine are), the hunt is a much more relaxed affair (tough lesson for Dad to learn). Sometimes that looks like lots of time in camp letting them...
It has been a refreshing change to read everyone's advice here.
I recently had this exact conversation with my (12 yr old) son as he smirked at a young/small deer that someone had mounted. My take on the matter - folks have "trophies" mounted for all kinds of reasons. Personally, I mount...
