I'm in the Piedmont also. Have always seen them in neighboring counties while hunting but none close to home until last year. One showed up on my property. They really must be doing well because they're range keeps expanding. Sure are pretty animals. My 11 year old son is on a quest to get him a...
I was working in the Ag shop during my senior year in high school. The teacher stuck his head in and said "a plane hit the world trade center, you might want to come watch this"
Truly a sad day!
There are tons of places to set up camp. Lots of roads which is both good and bad. Easy for you to access but also for everyone else. I would concentrate hunting on the edges of the forest to BLM transitions. There are definitely some giant deer there. I missed a legit 200 class deer in 2018...
You can look on the forest service website for closures. It's really not been an issue for us as they are only closed during business hours so coming or going to a hunt was either before or after.
Just thought I'd share my first elk hunt with you guys. Hunted a general unit in Wyoming that we've previously hunted for pronghorn and deer.
Long story short, we hunted very, very hard, all day in fact and were actually in elk every day of our hunt. I was within bow range of a mature herd bull...
Had great luck out of Dodge/RAM with cummins. Owned about 10 of them from daily driving to heavy towing. Lots of guys running them 500k miles plus hotshot hauling with good maintenance. Sad part is, used truck prices are sky-high right now. I've seen 2-3 year old trucks selling for new truck...
Worn mine at some pistol matches for 2-3 hours before, no problem. If you can find noise canceling ear buds that work they would be much more comfortable I'm sure. I just bought a pair of iso-tunes with a Bluetooth function. Great for listening to podcasts or music while working.
I have a pair of Howard Leight Impact. They are electronic, amplifying normal sounds and canceling out above a certain level. Lot of options out there including noise canceling ear buds too than can sinc to a Bluetooth device
Carried a Glock 19 every day for 6-8 years. Hard to make a switch. Small enough to conceal but still large enough to shoot very accurately, 50, 75 yards and beyond. Way outside the realm of most deadly encounters
Assuming I draw an elk tag this year we will hunting with archery gear. Not trying to open a can of worms or start a debate on brands necessarily. Just looking for general direction on good broadheads. Want to stay away from mechanical. Have always used 100gr wasp and muzzy 3 and 4 blade with...
