They got me here in MD too. I have a BP about 5 miles from my house, yet I typically drive 2 hours to a Cabelas if I want something in person. BP is utterly terrible in so many ways.

I couldn't agree more. I already take him out as much as I can. He's had the "fever" ever since he's been able to walk. He's already been on a few hunts with me and helped me track a few animals. I would hope he's got a few whitetails under him by the time we head out West.

I'll second what others have said about the camping vs. packing in. As for the spoilage, if you can find water nearby you can hang the meat over the stream or seal it in contractor bags and sink it in the stream. Try not to get the meat wet though.

This was my second year. From what I learned last year I did more uphill sprints (from what little elevation I could find here in MD) compared to longer endurance runs. While this helped, the area I was hunting was really steep and had me sucking wind from time to time.
