Flying out for an elk hunt

Thanks, I'll have to look into that. I have had meet frozen and vacuum-packed and thought to myself what if this was just cooled and vacuum-packed?

Flying out for an elk hunt

Rather than type a few paragraphs I put together a video. I think this is helpful for the beginner and even those who may have flown out a few times. Not sure it'll offer much to those who drive out for a hunt.

My son said he wanted to catch a big fish

I figured pulling up an amberjack from 400ft would give him all he wanted and it did not disappoint.

    My most insane rut hunt

I hope y'all enjoy this one. I went from feeling sorry for myself for having such a bad rut to literally having a tornado of bucks running around me.

    Silent September

I'm wondering if the Winter kill was maybe a little higher than anticipated. I can see elk not bugling, but when I'm not cutting tracks in the snow it's pretty telling.

    Silent September

I hope your elk hunt had more rutting activity than mine did. Speaking with a number of folks it seems this was the norm for various parts of Idaho.

    My Idaho Elk Hunt

Just getting caught back up at work, but I put together this quick recap of my archery hunt. It was nice to see snow again this year!

Top 10 gear items under $20

Okay, here are my top 10 gear items under $20. What am I leaving out? I always like to reassess my gear. I've simplified some items over the years. *I forgot to add rope/string*

Charter fishing in Cancun / Tulum

We were just in Playa Del Carmen back in April. I charter fish wherever I go, however I intentionally held off here as the fishing is not that good. I considered it as I was able to find 1/2 day trips for ~ $3-400, but that's a lot to maybe catch a dolphin or barracuda. What I would recommend...

Opening day bird roosted and down

Fortunately, we're a two bird state, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get out much more this season with kids sports schedules. Either way, I've already had a great season with some son getting a bird this past Saturday.

    My son's first gobbler

On Saturday we headed out for Maryland's Youth turkey day on public land. The day did not disappoint.

6.5x55 (Swede) ammo and brass for sale

Mikwat, did you buy these? I'm very interested in the federal loads. My son inherited a 6.5x55 this past year. The federal rounds shoot great out of his gun, but we can't find them. He killed his first bull with that round this past Dec.

NOSLER wants to see your success

140 gr Nosler partition in 6.5X55mm. Wish I could find some more of these for my son's rifle. Elk went 40 yards after my son shot him.

    Flying west

I do it every year. Biggest factor is getting the meat frozen. After that just grab a cheap Wal-mart cooler(s) and you should be good to go. I have a 24-can soft-sided cooler that will hold both backstraps and loins and some trim that I use as a carry-on. Remember, no weight limits on carry-ons.

    Middle Keys in April

Spearfishing can be incredible, especially on the reef. Snorkeling for lobster too!
