I couldn't agree more. I honestly don't think CPW could come up with a more complicated system if they tried. As a CO native (45 yrs.) and someone who does a decent job staying informed on sportsmans isues, the complexity of our bear tags is mind boggling. On a side note, when it...
Very similar but only one spare tire.
I also keep (4) tire chains.
Double sided axe
Bow saw
And bottle neck jack not a floor jack.
Come-along, handyman jack, fuel & chainsaw depening on the trip.
Any Pit Masters on here? Or, just some solid weekend warriors?
We have a big game feed at our place every year and this year I'm excited to cook up some Lion. Since this isn't something I dabble with everyday I want to get it right. I'd like to serve the kitty in a couple different dishes...
Looks like they still make it, never had it but might have to give it a shot!

I'm with Oak, Mountain House is definitely my go-to backcountry meal. So much so I buy in BULK at Costco. If you catch it on sale you get down to about $4/pouch. Not a bad deal if you can find a couple buddies to go in with you, or just throw down for the lifetime supply...
There are definitely elk in 16, camping and quad access but also a TON of hunters. We hunt a spot opening day and that's about all it's good for because the elk know the routine and when the hordes of dudes start tromping thru all the national forest/BLM, you'd better believe those old cows...
Doable yes. Painful if you're successful, absolutely! Gotta be realistic about that packout because it's no joke. Lots of good info from others.
Shoot me a PM with your mailing address and I'll drop a copy of my book in the mail for you. Only catch is that if you loose interest, pass it on...
I thought you all might enjoy the recap I did of my recent lion hunt (Randy gave me a thumbs up on putting the blog link here). Hope you like it and hopefully it's helpful to someone who may be considering a lion hunt (guided). I'm a dyed in the wool DIY guy so I was bit out of my comfort...
I didn't personally fill my tag but had fun trying. Thought a few of you might be interested in our hunt recap - http://thinairoutdoors.com/arizona-archery-javelina/
Since I'm new to this whole Javelina thing, I"m up for any pointers anyone has to offer.
McManus & CJ Box are all great.
I've been reading all Rinella's stuff (American Sportsman, American Buffalo & Scavageners Guide to Haute Cuisine)
And recently Big Sky by A.B. Guthrie. All were good reads.
I'm thinking you might have been asking about something other than this, but I've been loving the Pig Suede Mocs from Duluth Trading. Super comfortble, and I can wear just about anywhere. In fact, they've kinda screwed me a couple time becasue I forget I was wearing them and not my hunting...
