I was excited to find this one yesterday in Douglas WY but catching up on this thread reminded me it was pretty tame..
And I apologize for the bug spattered windshield, holy bug season!
I’d recommend two saws. I run a 461 on my mill but if I were doing it again I’d go bigger. The 461 is a lot of saw to be dragging thru the hills (doable for small jobs but wears you out unnecessarily). I’ll grab one of my smaller saw for felling/limbing.
We do the same thing, dad, brother and maybe a buddy or two. It is a ton of work but worth it. Also, makes much better use of our wild game. I find brats, Italian/breakfast sausage, venison bacon, etc. gets chowed a lot faster than staring at 200lbs of burger every time you open your freezer.
Curious what your blower door score was? I know to receive Passive House certification you needs to be under 0.60ACH (which I’ve heard is tight enough if someone farts inside your ears will pop), ha! Our current building codes require you be under 5.0ACH.
The last house we built was 1.67ACH...
Here’s what I can’t get out of my head. You hear so many stories about guys going on their OIL trips but it doesn’t pan out like they thought. Lousy weather, drunk guides, animals don’t show up, etc, etc. I couldn’t imagine coming home from a less than stellar hunt, then having to make...
I love our Parks & Wildlife, almost impossible to get the same answer twice! I think your guy got it right, it’s residency that the state is concerned with, not what other states you hold licenses (lifetime of otherwise).
Although I must say this thread did not go the way I anticipated. I was...
I’m a little late to this discussion but I love my 3/4 hp LEM Big Bite. I probably went thru 5 grinders before this one, starting with a little hand crank grinder and gradually moving up each time. This guy will grind as fast as you can feed it. Probably grind 100-200 lbs per year and have...
I wish @Big Fin would comment. I think his advice on “you’ll run out of health before money” is great advice. But the way the question is posed it sounds more like “you’ll run out of health before running out of someone else’s money.” Not sure that’s what he’d advise 🤔.
I’m way too big of a...
The others are on right on track. Attic insulation is definitely your first step. We blew in more attic insulation after living in our house for about 15 years. In hindsight I should have done it on day one, it paid for itself in the first year. Not sure where you’re located but Home Depot...
I’m a new pup owner myself and almost posted this same question a few weeks ago but instead asked some buddies with some kick butt dogs. This is what they recommend, I’m a fan so far. No nonsense, geared toward hunting, not field trials and the author has a ton of experience. Used on Amazon...
