    Water in high country

Last year in September I was around 11k and had serious issues finding water. I did however find a seep in tall grass where everything else had been sipping water. The grass was laid down all around it and lots beds nearby. The water had a sheen on it and I was reluctant to drink it. I’ve tried...

    Keep your bow in tent?

Last year while backpacking I kept my compound in the tent with me. With the rest of my gear and self, it was a crowded place. Wondering what you guys do? I was worried about mice chewing on it (I think, or big foot taking it)??. Trying to figure out all my questions from last year.

MYSTERY RANCH BACK PAIN IN LUMBAR REGION

Would the OV innovation MEAN pad help in this situation? I’m having similar back issues and seeing a chiropractor, learning stretches, etc. But I seen where the pad could help in the lumbar region.

    2021- Who got skunked?

I came close to getting a cow with a otc tag. It was my first elk hunt and I ended up going solo because all my “buds” backed out, blaming wives and such 🙄. I’m going back with a bigger better plan. It’s slow down, drink water, eat and slow down some more. I’m sorta past the point of...

    .44 mag ammo for deer

My kids have shot a bunch of iowa whitetails with a cva 44. 240 grain jsp. None have gone further than 30 yds and shots so dar have reached out to 90 yds. They all prefer the 44 over the 350 legend fwiw

    Bear outfitter recommendation

Maybe someday maine will be a possibility. I also thought about just diy to montana or idaho but still think maybe a guide would be my best option for the first time around, so I can have an idea of what I need to be doing. Thanks for the input and I hope everyones season is going better than...

I’d love to go to maine with the kids and wife. Is that a preference point state for bear? Thanks for the reply

    Bear outfitter recommendation

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could recommend a bear outfitter for the 2022 spring season. I’m completely open to any method as far as baiting and sitting in a stand or spot and stock or even possibly hounds. From what I’ve seen this would put me in idaho or possibly montana for spot and...

    Carrying extra fuel

Wonder what is the best way to transport gas in the truck into the back country. I have plastic gas cans but they seem to splash out or leak fumes a little, just enough to be annoying. I just want to have 5 gallons on hand for “just in case”. Looking for something that won’t leak fumes or...

    At home meat processing

Thanks fellas! I’m not much different than any of you guys then. I’ve got the biggest cutting board I could find a portable table, a grinder but would definitely like to upgrade because mine gets bound up with tendons and silver skin, a variety of boning and skinning knives. Also a sawzall for...

    At home meat processing

Hey all I’m relatively new here and was hoping to see some pictures of your guy’s at home butcher shops. Wether it’s elaborate or simple, I’m intrigued to see what others have going on. My family and I eat deer for about 95% of our meat, we shoot on average 6-8 a year and our local meat guy is...

    Limited & otc question

My expectations for killing one are low and am satisfied keeping it as a glorified backpacking trip with bow in hand. Just excited to finally have the opportunity to get out and make a sincere attempt on something other than whitetail!

    Limited & otc question

Good information! Trying to understand parts of the elk management and distribution of tags to decide on where to go. I’m hoping to get familiar with an area and continue to hunt it in the future.

    Limited & otc question

I haven’t elk hunted before. It’s a completely new adventure for me. I’ve hunted Iowa whitetails for the last 25 years, should be a fun learning curve

    Limited & otc question

Thanks for the reply! Plan is to get a point this year and hunt otc or a left over. Figure it’s smart for the future if they begin to change anymore otc to draw.

    Limited & otc question

Hey all this will be my first year archery elk hunting and I was wondering if someone could help me understand the purpose of limited draw units in Colorado where the quota ends in a surplus of tags or can be drawn with 0 pts. Is this because the elk population in such units are below desired...

    Hiding cameras

I spray paint my cams and hang them using bailing wire. I always felt like something in the woods that is one sid color never blends in and a strap or cable going around a tree always seems to be a dead giveaway to the location. I’m not sure if painting some of the cameras voids warranty or not...
