    Rent a pair of Swaros from Todd at optics4rent and try them out beside yours in the field. He is easy to work with. I rented a pair of SLC 15s from him the first time I hunted Coues. That put me on the path to upgrading.

    If you live in Texas I am pretty sure that Nilgai have intramuscular fat. They are in the bovine family ( like cows) not the cervid family (deer, elk, etc).

    Only other thing to consider is that they typically start dropping their horns at the end of October. I shot one two years ago in MT on November 4 and probably half the bucks in the group were missing one or both horns. If you are looking for the most opportunity I would go on the earlier side.
