    Offseason Learning: Processing Wild Game

Hank Shaw 100% in addition to the other resources. He has good instructions on processing but his books and website are a gold mine of info on cooking wild game. I own all of them.

    Lightweight scope

Swarovski z3. I have the 4w reticle which is essentially a duplex with windage marks. Simple, light, best in class glass. If you are a gohunt member you get a good deal if you call and order direct from Cody.

Getting Out With An Old 25-35

That’s awesome! Few things better than hunting deer on a day like that! Congrats.

Why does it have to be this way?

I’m pretty sure the pilgrims used to burn folks at the stake for talk like that.

    My nephew Ashton's buck...

He is obviously a good man. They will treasure that day forever. Ashton is lucky to have a dad who puts him first like that.

    My nephew Ashton's buck...

Buck of a lifetime!! Your brother and his son are lucky to have this memory to share. They must have been freaking out when he made the shot. Good on ‘em!

    GA Deer Season 2022

Great buck! You earned it passing up all the smaller ones. I enjoy these threads that show me totally different landscapes to hunt in than I am used to.

    Combination Rifles

My buddy has an S&w governor. You can shoot 45 colt or 410 ga interchangeably. He regularly shots grouse with it. A lot easier and lighter than carrying a combo. Might be something to consider.

    One day was enough

To protect eagles, hunters and conservationists rebuild old alliances (non-lead ammo)

This will probably open a can of worms but where does the anti-mono sentiment come from? Did the early mono bullets have performance issues? My brother and I have essentially only used various Barnes(expander, ttsx, lrx)monos over the last 8 years and in 2 dozen animals out to 350yds they are...

Federal Trophy Copper Slug's causing damage to rifling?

I also have a savage 220 and shot a buck with it on Wednesday using the Barnes Expander. Broadside shot, center mass a couple inches behind the shoulder. Full pass through. Buck kicked, ran twenty yds out of sight and tipped over. The blood trail was unbelievable and when I opened him up both...

    Arizona...what the hell

Unfortunately Coues are a thing I just can’t quit so I will be up at 2 am on the 1st. They may be about the toughest thing in NA to spot and stalk but they are amazing critters.

    Arizona...what the hell

Glad they used my past permit money to advertise the hunt across a range of influencer platforms and then pulled the rug out from under our feet.

    One last trip

Great story. I think that is how most of us would like to spend our last days. Spending time with family doing something you love. His smiles in the pictures say it all!

I've been living under a rock, caliber/rifle inquiry

My brother has a weatherby vanguard in ‘06 that is nice. He’s shot two dozen critters with it and I have borrowed it to shoot a couple more. I hear nothing but good things about the Tikkas. I would throw Savage in as well. I have three savage shotguns with a rifle on the way. They aren’t...

Puffy? Synthetic, warm, not crazy expensive?

A little out of left field but the best thing I ever did for staying warm glassing was buy the Western Mountaineering Flight down puffy pants. Only 12oz and you can literally feel your legs getting warm when you pull them on. Probably my favorite piece of clothing I own. Almost half the weight...

Randy Newberg on Matt Rinella's Podcast

For any of you with questions about Randy’s dedication to conservation and advocacy I encourage you to pay attention to threads on this forum about the upcoming 2023 MT legislative session. 2021 was a full assault on wildlife(elk in particular)and DIY public land hunting.
