I unpack. I use stuff from the hunting pack for upland hunting, hiking and skiing. I keep things in a couple of big plastic tubs and then in stuff sacks inside of those. From there I just have to grab various stuff sacks to re-pack for whatever hunt. One stuff sack has all the "after the...
My son's shotgun has a mid-barrel bead and a front bead. Might think of trying that so you don't have the rear sight. In all reality, when wing shooting you shouldn't be looking at anything on the gun anyway so you can probably make it work. Other option is to get a slug barrel for it and...
The biggest reason I don't want to see any mechanized mode of travel in wilderness areas is that it extends how far a user can get into the wilderness area in a day of travel. Even if I never get to most of the interior parts of wilderness areas I value them being there and those areas being as...
I lock everything and I don't have expensive coolers. Too many idiots out there. It's more of a "prevent inconvenience and being pissed off" than my gear being high dollar. I'd just rather not deal with it. An ounce of prevention. That said, I don't set up a big basecamp either.
This is an interesting one in that the bill foists the decision on the local official rather than an overall decision. I'm not sure how "local" that official might be in the eyes of this kind of bill though.
My son is 11 and started with a 22. I'm looking to get him a 6.5 in a savage 110 Hunter with the acustock or acufit or whatever their system is called that allows LOP and comb height adjustment.
I only hunt public land and walk in access for birds.....not superior or anything, I just don't have any private land connections. Even if I did I want to start my kids out on public lands. Teach them the value of the resource.
A bummer for sure. Personally, I support the closure even though it spells the end of my second rifle deer hunt. The conditions are just crazy. Seeing as we've had two fires start in two days in Boulder County we just have to be careful for the immediate future. Doesn't mean I like it! Now...
Best of luck. I'm "fired" out of unit 20 for deer. Bummer when it happens but not much we can do. I still have a 3rd season tag for elk but luckily it's an OTC so I'll be able to find somewhere that isn't on fire.
Thoughts and support to anyone in the path of the Cameron Peak or Calwood fire. I've been watching the closure area from Cameron Peak eat into unit 20 from the north. Today the Calwood fire started in the south end of the unit. I'm holding out hope that I'll find some open area to chase muleys...
Bow with a bow fishing rig so the arrow doesn't go awry? ;) I've sat and considered many an option in the late fall. I have a 2n'd story deck that touches the tree canopy....the dog loves it.
