    What are your 2020 plans?

Currently have a WY bear tag, put my 2 boys in for WY antelope gun and myself WY antelope muzzle loader. Will get my kids each WY gen elk & mule deer. Costs more for my bear tag than it does for one of my kids to have both elk & mule deer tags.

What's the coolest thing you've ever found, that you weren't looking for, while hunting?

Lost the pic some time ago, but found an old army ammo can under a hollowed out tree stump while turkey hunting that turned out to be a Geocache site. Sighed the logbook and added a turkey feather I’d found.

    Northern California

Welcome. I was stationed in Lemoore for several years and cut my teeth on Cali deer. Deer hunted A and D-7 mostly. Much better place NorCal than SoCal.

    .54 cal in-line and sabots

I’ve not tried a sabot in my Traditions .54 just in my .50 so this is some good info. I am shooting 425g lead conicals over a wad and 105g Goex FFg in the .54 and I’ve got open sites on it so 100y is my set limit. Also have 100y as my zero.

    Bear Sidearm

My kids each carry a can of spray when out hunting with me or checking bait site. I carry .40 with custom 320g loads if all I’m doing is checking bait or theirs I have my rifle. You will be in CO on a ML hunt so no chance of a grizz encounter. Take a can of spray if it makes you feel warm and...

    Bear baiting troubles

Any new logging activity or wildfire in the area? These may have pushed them away however they will be back. You may just have an off season is all. I’m new to baiting myself but have been told these two will push game away for a year or two until things start to green up again.

Wyoming Spring Black Bear Hunting/ Baiting

As stated before a bait site can only be gotten through WGFD and for selected open areas only. Further restrictions also apply to selected zone and distance it must be away from roads, water and campgrounds/ picnic areas and buildings. These last 3 alone can eliminate entire areas for bating...

    Scouting for bears?

South facing slopes in the spring green up first. Spring bears feed heavily on grasses.

    2020 Spring Bears Thread

I’m in WY and I’ve had zero bear activity at my bait and no fresh sign. A chipmunk and crow have been my only hits in the last 10 days. I have found several elk sheds at least.

    The Great Wyoming Checkerboard Belt

I live right in the middle of the checkerboard. It seems that most everything private around me is Overland, Jack creek or TA cattle companies. With Overland and TA being the largest. With the windmill farms going in SW of Rawlins they’ve closed off a couple roads to the public and tagged them...
