I would go with a mono bullet for elk or minimum a nice bonded bullet.. federal fusions seem to shoot good in most rifles.. hornady interlock seems to hold together great also and shoots nice in my 270 win
An option, is to try the same setup on a different rifle or the same scope with different rings/bases. but as someone who works in quality never assume that because it comes from a top notch company that bad products don't slip through the doors.
I know someone who had this exact problem except he was missing to the right and ran out of windage adjustments. The dials were broke in his scope, he returned it and got a brand new one that has been in use for about 5 years now.
From what i have gathered here and from elsewhere is that unless I jump into 30 magnums im not getting any better than the 270 win. 280 rem and 280 ai isn't much better than the 270 win on paper. 200 FT LBS energy difference at 300 yds
Next year I am buying a more premium rifle and will be starting to get into reloading currently have a 6.5 Creed and a 270 win. I am looking into getting a 30-06 or 308 for handloaders which is a better option. All I can find is they are identical so it boils down too rifle weight with the 308s...
The stores close to me do not have a wide variety of scopes to look through, the leupolds were a lot better than the cheaper vortex, but it seemed like once you hit the Diamondback vortex the 2 brands were pretty similar and comparable all around and as far the scopes at the store the Vortex...
I've never used interbond but have killed deer with interlock with great success. I am interested in the interbond as well but, I have never seen them in stores.
At what point do you get good scopes? If 500$ is my budget should I buy or wait and save up for a better scope around 1000$ is there a significant difference 200 and 500 and 1000?
