I drove out to vortex and spent a hour and a half with one of there optics techs looking through all there scopes across there fields, at optics charts, and with other eyepieces. I went in to buy the razor 85 and decided to come home with the viper 65. If anyone is around south western...
I'm actually heading there tomorrow. I was planning on bringing my bushnell. I cant see 1000yds at 45x with it. If the vortex is that bad, I will sell my truck and buy the 115mm swaro
You guys find me a better spotting scope for $900 and I will happily buy it. It's what I can afford and like thousands of other people, they have not given me any problems. I'm literally upgrading from a 15-45x50 bushnell for my 1 to 2 trips out west I will be taking per year.
I understand. If I wasn't getting 50% off then I would probably entertain the all the other options.
I called prairie du chien today. Even though they dont have any in stock, they have displays! Thanks for the hot tip! Heading there tomorrow morning.
I actually looked them up, and the one in chicago, gurnee, and madison. they are all out of stock for some reason. Vortex is actually only a hour away from me so maybe I can just go there to try them out.
Thanks for the input. I think I will just go with the Razor.
Thank you. Would you drop down to the 65mm if you could do it over?
Sweet! Razor it is then!
I was thinking the angled also. It seems like looking up a mountain would require a very tall tripod with a straight. Thanks!
Hello from German Valley. (Northern IL) I feel your pain on the places to hunt. Up here we get a lot of people from Chicago that lease farmers land for hunting. But every once and a while i find a 5 acre timber that the farmer will allow me to hunt for free. But I always start out by asking to...
I'm in the market for a vortex spotting scope. So far I have only been able to find one review that compared the viper 85mm vs the razor 85mm. The consensus was that there wasn't much difference for $700. But I like to make my decision with more than 1 review. Does anyone have experience with...
Had a similar scenario. My scope was installed crooked tho. Bdc and crooked dont mix. I ordered a weaver kit and a Tipton vise and confirmed the crappy mount job from the "gunsmith". I will be mounting my own scopes from now on.
Badlands 2200- I was not impressed with the load shelf being son the outside of the pack. It was very awkward with a full antelope hanging so far behind me and not tight to my back. Also the pistol holsters are to far back and you can barely reach your pistol.
I like vortex. I had the 850 which is now the 1000. I traded it in for something with a longer range and has a backlight. The 850 was good to 400yds on deer sized animals and it worked on proghorns but when you are putting on a stalk, it's nice to know when they are beyond 400 to get a gauge of...
