Certainly. I'm sure the whole city goes on with their lives except those unfortunate residents and business owners in the affected areas. If I were an elected official there, other than seeing it as my duty to protect those people, I would be very concerned about the image of the city.
Huh...
Wasn't aware of that. That's bizarre, but then so is most of Portland.
I do kinda chuckle a bit at all the attention Portland is getting right now, from people who say they have no use for the Portlands of the world. I guess it's the "told you so" instinct we all have. Folks just waiting for...
But don't you think that's the point of the rioters and looters - to discredit BLM and make them look like a terrorist group? This is why I'm suspicious about who is actually doing the looting, rioting and assaulting people on the streets. There are plenty of folks who wish very much to...
Randi, I read your post. At what point is it someone else's job to determine whether they have sufficient resources? I am simply suggesting important things to consider, particularly for those who ask for less government interference on a regular basis. No harm in asking the questions. It's...
I find it interesting that many of those who have argued against government interference in local issues for decades, are now promoting the idea of government interference in local issues.
Are we sure there aren't sufficient police to deal with the anarchists already? Have the local police chiefs been asking for help but not getting it?
At what point should local control give way to big government intervention? In your examples, was that NG support requested by the local LEO's?
I wasn't talking about the specifics of that video. I was responding to the 60 seconds comment earlier. The guy that kicked him should be in jail right now, without question. However, I know a feeding frenzy when I see it. LOL Ya'll have fun.
That's fair. My knee-jerk reaction was probably ill timed, I admit.
I'm pretty exhausted from all the outrage and counter-outrage at the moment though. I see Portland and Seattle more as local problems that they have cultured and allowed for decades. I also see them as their problems to...
Curious why you find my comments so offensive. I suppose that's your choice. I have not made any personal comments or violated any forum rules. I suspect @Big Fin is just fine with folks exercising their 1A rights so long as they aren't personal in nature. I've seen how he welcomes critical...
I did. Been there and I thought it was another filthy stinking big city just like every other filthy stinking big city in the U.S. Guess that's why I don't live in a big city. Sorry for those who do. Anytime you get that many people in one place, there is going to be crime. Nothing new...
