I am jacked for turkey season.
I am hunting Texas, Nebraska and Montana for sure and hope to throw in Idaho as well.
Wanted to do FLA early in the season but not happening this year unfortunately.
I love hunting turkeys, good luck to all your fellow turkey loons! :)
I like it a lot.
Certainly not quite a stable as a typical head but it actually works pretty dang well.
The light weight part overrules any of the cons so far, I am loving it.
Thought I would bump back and forth with my Slik tripod and head and the Spartan but I haven't used my Slik at all...
I recently bought the Spartan Sentinel Tripod in addition to the several bipods of theirs I have. This thing is pretty slick and I mount my Swaro spotting scope on the tripod via one of their nifty attachments. Again, it's not cheap but a heck of a lot lighter than my tripod I usually carry...
This pisses me off to no end. Should have been a life-time ban and a minimum of $25K. Need to send a serious message to these dang offenders. Grrrrrr......
Congrats and way to figure it out!
And thanks for reporting back. Unfortunately many do not after gleaning some info.
Enjoy that delicious meat and that set of horns on the wall.
I would look at the FWP regs and find general areas that are open to either sex, or anterless or spike elk. Some of those areas have elk numbers over the objectives and likely have some decent opportunity at a freezer filler. I would also call the biologist in the regions you research and...
Congrats on the oryx tag.
You're going to have a heckuva lot of fun and hopefully some fine eating.
I've been on three oryx hunts on the Rhodes Canyon side and they were a blast.
I would be in there any time after mid-September.
If you get a big storm in late September/early October the difficulty level rises exponentially in my humble opinion.
If I had the tag I would definitely want to shoot it before the general rifle season starts and the activity picks up tenfold.
That'll be fun.
Been on several goat hunts in that district.
As a few have mentioned, lots of goats and lots of different areas to hunt.
Good luck to your Dad!
At this point, I would give me left you-know-what for a RM bighorn tag.
I have killed a goat, two Dall sheep, a Stone and a Desert.
Loved the meat of all of them. The goat was a bit tough but I thought the flavor was excellent.
I am hoping and praying for a bighorn tag one day. I'm going...
Point creep got me the past couple years.
Not this year, finally drew an antelope tag.
Guessing it'll be awhile before I get another one but looking forward to hunting this tag.
Good luck to all that drew and my sympathies to those that didn't.
I love my Hilleberg Soulo.
I really like a free-standing tent so you can set it up anywhere and I love the design of the Soulo.
The tent is bomb-proof, I've been in some serious winds with it and it holds up great.
