My daughter had the 314 moose tag about 10 years ago.
I've been on several goat hunts in that unit and have seen quite a few moose in there including the biggest MT moose I've even seen.
Shoot me a PM if you have any specific questions.
Nice write up and great moose!
Dustin is a friend of mine and I did a similar hunt up there two years ago so I have a couple questions:
What camp were you hunting out of?
Hope you were happy with your hunt overall? I think those guys do a great job. I did the Cassiar moose/caribou hunt...
Glad Andy was successful on his ram but damn, I cannot imagine passing up that first ram! Both rams are crankers and that 'bou is awesome as well.
Nothing like the Mackenzie's, unbelievable country.
Monarch Taxidermy in Helena does excellent work.
They've done a ton of stuff for me including several full body black bears and a couple rugs.
They are certainly not the cheapest route though but I'd rate them very high on the quality scale.
Mike runs a good outfit for sure. I've hunted bears with him 4 or 5 times. Good operation and he is a straight-up guy.
I have no reservations whatsoever recommending him.
I'd check out Mike's Outfitting for a pretty reasonable moose.
They don't shoot big ones but they shoot tasty ones if you just want to shoot a moose.
Pretty sure they run about $ 7500 or so.
That's some incredible country that not a lot of people get to see.
I hunted there a few years ago on a cow hunt with my bow. Loved it!
Did you hunt with Chaz?
Mind if I ask who you hunted with?
Headed down next January. PM me if you'd rather not say on the thread.
Thanks for any info and that's a heckuva nice deer, congrats!
Finley and I have been slipping in a few last hunts. It's been a good year and hope to get out another day or two on the ducks and trying to get to SD late next week for another crack at the pheasants.
Dang dog loves to roll in the dirt after getting wet but thought this picture was pretty...
Finley was at it again this weekend.
Got my Dad (pictured with Finley) out this weekend and we had a pretty good hunt on Saturday.
Four roosters and a few nice mallards. Should have had a couple more pheasants but we both missed a gimme apiece.
Finley wasn't impressed with that! :)
Your story is bringing back fond memories of hunting the Bridgers in the '90's.
Shot some really nice deer in there, a shame that is has gone so far downhill.
You boys are giving it one hell of an effort, hope you find one you like!
I lived just off Springhill Road for a number of years and...
