I will be returning to Colorado this fall for my second elk hunt and I am wondering, should I be successful this time, are there local places where I can rent freezer space to get my elk frozen solid before returning home? Should bones be left in so my processor has an easier time back home...
There is a section on this site where you can find a buddy and go. Life’s too short to not find someone you can tolerate for a week to chase elk with. Who knows, you might just make a lifelong friend
Can anyone recommend an individual or company that will make a Kydex holster for a Smith and Wesson Governor? Looking to be able to put it on a Razco harness that attaches to my FHF Gear bino harness.
Would someone with Quickload be willing to calculate a load for me. There is no data I could find and I just want to know a good starting point and where pressure becomes dangerous. More than willing to compensate someone for their time.
MNHunter,
I have trialed the Barnes 180 gr. tTSX loads against my 200 gr. Hand loads. There is not a lot of difference between the two. The 180 gr. Will shoot faster, but it also sheds speed faster due to the lower BC of a flat base design. The 200 gr. Starts a little slower but keeps a little...
Keep an eye on Powder Valley. They have had Ramshot Big Game in stock several times over the last month. Picked up a lb. On two separate occasions. Shipping costs suck but no getting around that these days.

Trialed my loads today and you guys were dead on with the numbers. Using Varget I was getting an average speed of 2665 out of a 20” barrel, which keeps me above 2000 FPS and just under 1500 ft. Lbs out to 300 yards. I was quite impressed with the performance and could probably...
Just loaded up a ladder test with the 150gr. Shock Hammers. Does anyone have any experience with speed and performance expectations? Where they see pressure signs, etc?
I fully regret asking this question, it has had more tangents than a high school math book, but I did get some good advice. To all those who offered advice and alternative rifles to look at, thank you, to those that didn’t, “at no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close...
Nailed it Mako. I can find 7-8+ lb rifles but a lightweight mountain rifle (less than 6 lbs )is impossible to find and isn’t listed as available calibers for those rifles. I love the 7mm-08 and think it will always be my go to for most applications.
That is some serious math. I’m seeing a few of the carbon stalkers pop up on gun broker, but until it has a different stock I can’t pull the trigger. Pricing wasn’t bad at all though.
