No, I have both 168 and 180 grain loads already. As I have not hunted prongs before, I was trying to determine if a lighter load would be a better option than what I currently have available in the event I would have to shoot a .300 wsm instead of my go to 7mm-08.
I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t overkill like it would be here in a lot of KY. And who knows, if I make a 130 gr. load I like I might use it here too.
Would a .300 WSM shooting a 130 gr. TTSX be too much for pronghorn? At this time I do have other options available but if my wife or son wanted to hunt as well, I would be using my elk rifle.
I am new to everything pronghorn so please excuse my ignorance.
I don’t think I would label her hands as small per se, just too much stock between her shoulder and the trigger keep her from a good mount on the gun in certain positions. The plan after everyone’s input is to get some sort of adjustable right hand stock to get the perfect length and cheek...
Do you feel comfortable hunting without hearing protection with the Banish 30? I ordered the backcountry for my first can and was curious how a similar model performed in the field.
Second on this. There are also hidden costs like how the suppressor will attach and purchasing proper mounting hardware that works for your gun. Personal recommendation would be mid-range suppressor and tax stamp, thread the barrel of the .308 and try to upgrade your glass with anything left...
All right everyone, my wife is getting into shooting and hunting more, however she is having a hard time shooting consistently, a cause of much frustration for the both of us. I have determined that even my shortest stocked rifle is much too long for her frame. Normally this wouldn’t be a...
I own a custom shop M48 in 35 Whelen that shoots lights out. Would definitely buy a second one if I could find it. The build on that one is heavy for my taste and that is the only reason it no longer goes out west with me.
I got the Z2 a few months back with a different battery. Haven’t tried it on solar but has worked well on a few overnight trips I have used it on. Watch your elevation it’s only rated to 8000 ft. I’m sure it will work above that but might get squirrelly.
Both my Howas won’t chamber a 140 grain TTSX longer than 2.795” COAL. Shoots pretty well though, so I don’t complain. Still annoying to look at all the cartridges that fit in a Ruger American chamber I no longer own.
I am prepping for a hunt this fall in Colorado and I am wondering how much range time everyone puts in before their hunt. My goal is once per week five shots at 3-400 yard targets. Unfortunately in Kentucky it is too hot right now to try and get more shots in as barrel cool down time is 8-10...
