So many of the shows have background music, cool rock, strings, whatever, playing along with the action. Does anyone else picture a small band following these guys around the woods playing that stuff? I've never claimed to be wired like most, probably too much Monte Python in my youth. But it...
I found that a hammer was the single best strength-building implement after my wrist fusion surgery. Choke up at first, down as you get stronger, move it all around to strengthen all angles. After you get the all clear for PT, anyway. PTist didn't appreciate me ditching all her gizmos.

Some gear tips I've learned over a couple decades. Enjoy your kids now, they're out of the house before you know it.
Also, if you have any inkling of getting a camper of any sort, get it as early as you...
Anyone have a pic or link of that particular setup? I ride mountain bike with a pack and bow on my back fairly often. My eberlestock works but I'm playing with some ideas for upgrading. Thanks.
Thanks guys, will keep my fingers crossed. I was working on a plan for archery bear this year when this all hit. Seems like Colorado is the canary in the coal mine trying to open things up a little bit right now. Hope we keep chirping and others follow.
Any prayer of them opening spring bear back up to nonresidents? I saw the provisos about having already purchased a tag or already set an agreement with the outfitter and unfortunately didn't make that cut. I know nobody has a crystal ball, I'm just looking for a little hope! Thanks.
I asked several weeks ago at the local SW if they were going to have one this spring. They didn't know what I was talking about. It's not horrible odds if you know you're going to purchase something that year, I've spent decent money in the past. But haven't participated in years since the...
Civil Engineer. Been doing airport consulting for about 20 years, kinda Dilbert's pointy-haired engineer boss wrangling the other engineers now. Honorable mention...land surveyor, Army engineer officer, beekeeper, occasional writer and technical communication lecturer at the local U.
That is a good letter. I have worked with rural western counties and cities for 20 years now, many of which are in Utah. It's a similar situation around all the square states. While I am a rabid public lands advocate, I see much of where the land transfer movement motivation comes from...
All the roads and trails will have a fair amount of traffic and not just hunters. You'll run into people if you're close to a trail of any kind, top to bottom. But, you can also run into elk close to the trails too. Just get used to company. Many of the dirt roads are better suited for atvs...
For width, if you're asking yourself if he's wide or narrow, then he's narrow. A big wide one will just look big and wide. For points, you generally want to look for what's going on after the G4 which is the one point usually standing straight up. If it splits into 2 little points after that...
It works now. I can't get the BLM land to fade out enough to see really well the land/drainages I commented on. Hopefully it was close. I plan on passing this info along to friends who I know would comment. I highly recommend spreading the word as far as possible. It doesn't seem like it...
Link still broken in Chrome, Firefox, and whatever MS calls its big blue "e" these days. I need a good reason to go pop into the new HQ a block away, maybe this is it!
I made honey-garlic meatballs with two pounds of elk burger and honey from our hives, it went over well at the gathering we went to. The chef was full by the time we got there though...glad I started with two pounds.
Plan for the long haul. Everyone is different, but having a partner and a fan who encourages you to take the time and resources to make you happy/keep your sanity is the goal. Odds are, that takes years to build up. If you can't do every single hunt you want in the early years, consider it...
Some advice from a guy who usually hunts elk 3rd, or later, seasons but occasionally hunts first season elk and September other critters. I'd stay in their summer range unless early winter weather or verified hunting pressure pushes them down. Keep in mind you can't glass as much country 1st...
When hunting, I generally just run binos, calls, wind checker, and a lens pen in an FHF or T&K bino pouch. You might check out these guys' chest rigs though. I have several and really like them for carrying more gear. I just generally don't want that much stuff on my chest when hunting, and I...
