Engineer, mostly transportation projects. All our work was contracted with cities and counties while we dealt with states' DOTs, the fed DOT, BLM, USDA, and a few other lettered agencies for the bulk of the funding. A couple decades of that gives one surprising insight to what works and what...
Big game has a .24 caliber minimum requirement. So if he chooses to carry something smaller with a small game license, that helps his case that he is not hunting deer or elk. Any long rifle in a bigger caliber could lead to a difficult conversation with some CPW officers explaining his intent.
Boil it all down to the bone, and I always go back to this: the threshold for corruption is highest with the federal government when compared to state and local. What I mean is, after decades of consulting for and around .gov at local, state, and federal levels, I think the lower the level of...
Jetboil Genesis is great, but they took some "planned obsolescence" tips from the tech industry. Already have an old flash system, you say? Would love to just sit it on your new Genesis burner? Nope, it's sized just close enough to give you hope but won't actually hold it for boiling water or...
Only one data point here, but I wolfed down a sweet/sour pork meal on Friday night. It was as ok-ish as every other freeze dried meal I've ever had. I noticed about halfway through its expiry date...2013! Must have slipped through previous purges in the pantry. Not even sure if it was MH or BP...
Figured I'd follow up with you all. I'm about 10 months into a 2022 Ram Power Wagon and am pretty happy with it. I've spent quite a few miles on washboardy forest service roads this year and it beats the heck out of my old 2015 Tradesman Ram 2500. It's not smooth, but much smoother. I air down...
Damned dirty SDans! (I was one). Great writeup. What I've told my friends is that not to worry, we all lose a wounded animal once in a great while. It will only bother you for 20 years or so.
I'd echo what others have said, once a TQ goes on tight, like stopping arterial flow tight, only medical staff should take it off. Weird things can happen with that once-stopped blood suddenly moving around your system. It may not play well with heart, brain, other important things! In a pinch...
Thanks, all.
They always go for the bad boys. I'll see if I can remove this criminal from the gene pool! They had the whole forest, not sure why they picked in front of my camera.
Does anyone know if there is any meaning to the various colors of ear tags on Colorado bears? The interwebs lead one to believe that white tags were orphaned bears. Saw one this summer with green tags and one last summer with yellow tags. The fella at the CPW office desk wasn't sure, he thought...
Not sure about instinct. But I have several pieces of Black Ovis off camofire and am generally happy with it all. Base layer bottoms and skivvies are pretty snug through thighs and calves, I'll order a size up on any more. But, I realize not everyone is gifted with a fire hydrant physique, some...
You have a friend in traffic engineers. Look up "theory of induced traffic" and it's generally the same theme. Widen and build more roads, and people will just use them more rather than relieving congestion. It's controversial but hard to argue when you boil it down to straight logic...which is...
I'm not familiar with the three who left to make room for these new folks. The scene wasn't exactly rosy before but I assume it sounds like it will get worse.
Is the Android Auto version still "coming soon" or is there a way to get it set up now? It's not popping up in my truck with the other compatible apps. I have the hunt version, not the offroad or backcountry. I read some offroading forums where they use it in their trucks, I'm wondering if the...
For about the same or less per quart you can get a 12v fridge/freezer. After realizing I don't haul big coolers very far from a plug, that's the way I went. Everybody's needs are different but keeping stuff frozen solid for long road trips is nice.
