How was your season, by the numbers?

Yes it is at the taxidermist now. I was a little conflicted about the fact that I didn't shoot the bear. Should make a nice rug though.

How was your season, by the numbers?

0 elk 0 deer 1 bear, that I didn't shoot, gut, skin, or process. 2 fox 1 bobcat Man looking at that list maybe I should start gathering. I suck at hunting haha Oh and the story about the bear. O bought a a bear tag along with my elk tag, but didn't hunt 2nd season bear because I prefer to...

Did I miss the memo on Ammunition stock-pile?

I agree. There seems to be 2 different types of people. People who are prepared for times like these ("hoarders"), and people who are unprepared in times like these (people that call people who are prepared hoarders). I can't figure out why it matters to people so much. This seems to happen...

    150grn ELD-X in a 7mm-08

I have a Tika 7mm 08 and shoot 150 grain ELD-x's. It is extremely accurate. I am new to reloading and I bought this rifle from a buddy that did all of the work for me. I use the the H380

    Stupidest Mistake Hunting

Rifle bear hunt hunt last year. I was in a great spot where I have always seen plenty of nice sized bear. There are berries everywhere, and a small creek. Not many people know about this spot, but a few do. So I got in to the spot early. At this spot you can see about 1200 yards down...

    Southern Colorado coyotes

I almost exclusively hunt private land. Most of the public land around the Durango area is heavily pressured. With Hikers and other hunters. You would be surprised how many people will let you hunt predators on their property as long as you don't leave a mess. I will find a piece of private...

    Fur friendly caliber/.223 bullet

Not targeting them, but some of the ranches/farms we hunt want us to hunt all predators. I am trying to learn to tan the furs myself, not too sure what I'll do with them if I get a bunch.

    New Use For Wool

At $135 per 25 lb bag that sure seems like it would get expensive very quickly. No clue how much regular insulation costs though.

    Fur friendly caliber/.223 bullet

yea the 55s are good for coyotes but not on fox. They have a very thin skin

    Fur friendly caliber/.223 bullet

yea that just might work. I'll have to try it out. Nothing else has worked. Fox are like little exploding targets

    Fur friendly caliber/.223 bullet

So this is discussed in depth online, but my search here was unsuccessful. My simple question is, is there one round that can be used for coyotes, bobcat, and fox. The reason I ask is I have been using my AR 15 and have been shooting 55 gr Hornady varmint bullets. This seems to be ok for...

    Calling all coffee snobs...

It might not apply as it's not "instant" coffee. But I just carry a bag of coffee grounds with me. I throw the grounds in to my cup and bring to a boil, let sit for a minute or 2 and drink away. Plus you get a little bit to chew on as well. But then again I absolutely hate instant coffee.

    Trade or sell Components.

Hopefully it keeps getting better. I need small rifle primers, perhaps I should be shooting less. You have given me hope. Thanks

    Home School Madness

Yes we get out as much as possible doing all sorts of different activities. I am completely opposite, math and I are mortal enemies, but I'm good at the writing stuff.

    Mountain Lion hunting

What a total badass. These are such incredible animals. They have my full respect, and maybe a little more than a healthy amount of fear. I still go out and try, and if I ever succeed at calling one in and making a good shot it will be my greatest hunting accomplishment.

I gotcha makes perfect sense. I really didn't even think of that. Definitely not trying to ruffle feathers in any way. Thanks for the response!

    Mountain Lion hunting

Yea maybe so. I think I was trying to be super positive. Right now most set-ups would look good, because I'm sitting behind a keyboard (it's where I'm most brave :) ). Then I get out in the woods and I turn mushy. I really wish I didn't run things through my head so much. I mean I've been...
