I've had a pretty good start to the ice season in northern Wisconsin. Panfish have been aggressive in shallow (less than 10 ft deep) water over green vegetation. I also managed to catch a 56 in sturgeon on a tip-up rigged for walleye. Quite the fight and the largest fish I've ever landed
Ended the day with some excitement...56 in sturgeon...obviously not the target species. Picture was quick because we wanted to get it back in the water
Another vote for marmot, a riveting tale of an epic hunt
Staysharp gets ban of the year for sure, and no, not everyone from Wisconsin is a know it all like that........
You would think this would be good news for the protection of the Boundary Waters and the Arctic Refuge. I share the concerns about renewable energy development on public lands.........
I wonder what kind of relationship she has with Martin Henrich? He always seems to be a champion for the...
yea man....take it easy. This is about the secretary of interior and whether she will be good, bad, indifferent to public lands, conservation, hunting, fishing. Save your opinions on abortion, welfare, etc for elsewhere
I have had similar conditions where I did not bring my dog, good call in my opinion.
Good work on the ducks. We have been iced out a while now in northern Wisconsin (plus duck season is now closed). Still some geese around on our rivers
That is a fantastic mixed bag and some beautiful birds.
Not sure if you many geese where you are at, but I have had good luck with most all species coming into goose decoys. You don't need many, and the large size and black/white color contrast can get attention from birds from far away. At...
So his strategy is to run down pronghorn, which could take a very long time, in 100 degree heat? Boy, not sure if that meat would taste good.
Ethical or not, being able to eat what you kill is a major, major part of hunting to me-so I guess I'm going to take a hard pass on the whole persistence...
Yea, I've watched guys dump ducks in the wild rice and then not try and pick anything up until after the hunt, I would imagine many go unfound. Luckily, I don't really find any cripples in my area, likely due to lack of pressure. We lost one wood duck this year, despite tremendous effort trying...
The Missouri River, I always thought early December was primetime?........but this was based on second hand information and limited research and we all know how that goes.
So I must've missed something.....jeez you guys are being kinda harsh to Ontario, guy is just giving a weather report.
Many ducks around Glasgow right now? Always thought of heading over that way to extend my waterfowl season. Never been to Northeast or North-central Montana
Opening day of duck season we arrive early to a small wild rice lake. We make a plan with the other guy there, hunting opposite ends of the lake. Well what do you know, 45 minutes before hours another group comes, already sees two trucks in the lot (there really isn't room for more hunters than...
This must be a nationwide issue, because in spots in northern Wisconsin it is bad, bad bad. Beer cans (and Busch Light must be beer of choice for folks who litter), fishing line, tires, junk furniture. Folks also seem to like to take a dump right in the middle of trails, one time RIGHT IN THE...
