The drive will be the biggest risk of your trip. I am driving back from NM currently and saw a few accidents in Kansas City on my drive through there this afternoon. Absolutely avoid Chicago whenever possible.
I go into my NM unit tomorrow. I hope you are successful this season. I’ll look forward to catching the rest of the story when I come out. Have a safe ride back to IL.
sorry for your tough situation here. But, it’s making for a better story than if you had walked up a mountain and shot a bear and walked back out. Quote of the day “you’re going to be fine…it’s just going to suck“
but I‘ve got to hand it to you, you are doing a great job getting away from the...
Interesting. I was told by someone last year where I hunted in CO that there was a boar grizzly roaming around in the area but that he mostly hung out on the edge of RMNP. The story included a personal sighting of the near during a horse ride several miles back away from any roads. I have no...
What a coincidence…I actually just saw in my NM reg‘s that they have a “mentor certification“ program in NM. Thats pretty cool. I may have to look into taking that if it’s offered on line.
I just happened to be re-reading it as I depart on Saturday for a 17hr drive to get there a couple days...
I lusted after one of those in high school. That‘s in really great shape! A rare one indeed. The other car I’d like to have from that era is a GTO. Absolutely nothing like them. I’m guessing the ride on those big wheels and low profile tires leaves a lot to be desired, but it is nice to look...
Yes, it sucks to not have a covered cab and windshield in rain and snow. If you ever get caught in weather on an ATV you will certainly wish you went with the SxS…a scene from the movie dumb and dumber comes to mind just thinking about this.
I wish I had a pic of my friend, who has an ATV...
I have the mid sized Polaris ranger which has suited my needs for hunting and some minor utility work around the house. That said, we have very, very limited options for trail riding around here and SxS’s are not street legal where I live.
i can take it on restricted width trails in most...
It’s been a while since I went through through hunter Ed, but when I read the OP I was really thinking about mentoring and educating for conservation with younger hunters. There are, and will likely always be, folks who are focused on the trophy, and the obligatory Instagram post that...
Good quality cabinet and door right there!…probably did her some good to be in that position for a few minutes to contemplate her poor decision.…but, then again, probably not 😄. Something will eventually “click” as she gets older I’m sure. Good luck to you and I hope you can hang onto patience...
The mud is not just an issue on the roads when it rains. Friend of mine shot a bull there a few years ago in the rain. He said he almost couldn’t even walk back to his truck with the meat…and he wasn‘t that far from the road/truck.
