Thanks. I didn't know that. I don't get a lot of geese where we duck hunt and the experience I've had with the ring on the neck have been smaller Aleutians.
The last two weeks of unsettled weather on the Sacramento River delta have been good. We've gotten more birds in our floating blind in that period than we did all of last year. Looks like a few days of clear/foggy weather and more unsettled next week. We've still have a month of...
I shot a 3 pointer right at the end of shooting time and I guess I rushed the quartering process a little. That deer had a lot of fine hair that was a pain to clean off during processing.
For one mallard I would pluck it and roast it whole wither in the oven or indirect on the weber. Hot and fast, not more than 130 as mentioned above. I've done a lot of them with the recipe below.

I've shot a couple here in CA and agree that you butcher it like anything else. Crockpot carnitas was a big hit in my house with the one I shot last year. All of the front shoulder, neck and anything else that had connective tissue was used for that. The rest was grilled.
I was at game 5. Pretty cool how evenly those teams played this year. I couldn't tell what that swing was until I go home, too bad it ended that way. As a Giants fan I hate to see it end that way but they needed a clutch hit or two early to keep from that situation. Go Braves.
Great thread. I was on a real good glassing knob in Nevada and had a small four point bust though a brush patch below me like he was being chased. There was no one else around and I was trying to figure out what happened when I saw a mountain lion move across an open hill side from the...
Thanks for the follow up on this. I've been using foam ear plugs for duck hunting and I'm ready to get something more advanced. I just checked out the Tetra sight and they look like what I need.
After watching my now 8 year old son struggle through sitting quietly in classrooms and writing story after story I think the whole system is geared toward breaking little boys down in a way. He, like many boys, is geared toward being active, doing math and building stuff like Legos which was...
I've followed a lot of the same advice you have here for crews and myself. Breakouts from the roots seem to have been the worst ones. I've paid for a lot of Kenalog shots.
Great comparison. I hadn't thought of those two characters being so similar but I see it now. When I was young I was all about getting things done and I don't remember acknowledging the downside of Call to myself. He was just the hero.
Definitely one of my favorites. I've read it a couple of times and it's my go to audio book if I'm having trouble sleeping. The conversations throughout the book don't seem to get old. I was in college when I saw the movie and loved Call. After reading it a couple of times and getting older...
I have a daughter turning 12 in November which is the legal age here in California with son turning 9. I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately. Something I think about is a fishing trip my brother took my daughter and I on when she was 8. She loves to fish and loves salmon and really...
