Well, after reading everyone’s input, I’ve decided on the Leupold VX-3HD 1-5x20 Firedot. Your points about it being <200 yards, smaller size, still able to use it as a backup to my larger scope all made good sense.
Thank you to all of you.
Wow! That’s quite the recoil. I love BuffaloBore ammo. Use it in my 30-06, and my .45 ACP as defensive loads. Will be shooting it in my Henry when moose hunting.
Yeah, I looked at that one really hard. One thing I was taking into consideration is that in a pinch (i.e. something happens to my scope on the Browning) I could use this scope as a backup, and the 1-5 might not be enough glass in that role. Another person made a good point similar to yours...
I'm going to be putting a scope on my new Henry Classic 45-70 rifle. I'm planning on using the rifle itself for < 200 yard shooting. With that as the background, I'm going to go with another Leupold scope. I currently have a VX-5HD 3-15X44 CDS-ZL2 SIDE FOCUS HTMR on my Browning 30-06. What...
I think Jimmy is in rehab at the 6666 ranch. They're going to clean him up, and next season he's going to return as an excellent cowboy and will focus his future on the Brand family.
But that boy sure is butt ugly today!
I think the barrel racers are gone. They created the tension needed...
You have some great points in your email. Thanks!
It will have the ability to variably adjust the length using the slide adjuster in the middle of the sling. I will be able to lengthen/shorten it by positioning it - similar to how a dog collar works.
I reached out to the guy that has made my gun belts. I love the work that he does, and asked him if could make a couple of slings for me. We talked for awhile on the phone and are going to work together to come up with a design. It’ll be a 1 3/4” sling that will taper down to just under 1...
How about the wider "cobra" slings? Does a wider sling help to prevent if from slipping? I've been looking at the Diamond D Basket Weave slings in particular.
I recently purchased a couple of very nice rifles, and while they're pieces of art (in my mind) they're also tools for hunting. I've always been a huge fan of leather. I think it's beautiful, long-wearing, and pretty much indestructible. However, I'm not sure how practical it is with today's...
Man, I have GOT to stop reading these threads!
I just looked and found a Henry 45-70 and bought it as a Christmas present to myself. Got the last one. It didn’t come with an octagonal barrel though.
@brockel Don’t know how I missed this before now. I own a LH Legacy (Hatsan is the Turkish manufacturer) Escort Magnum Supreme in 12 gauge. Have owned it for quite a few years now and have thousands of rounds through it with no problems. I have two other shotguns (O/U and Ithaca Model 37...
