Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x 44 vs VX-5HD 3-15x 56 in Low Light
Not to hijack the thread, but I have fallen in love with the Firedot! I have it on my new VX-5HD 1-5x24 and it’s amazing. I wish I would have got it on my VX-5HD 3-15x44. I went with the HTMR reticle but wish I got the Firedot. I’ll be getting the same scope but with the Firedot. -
Anybody familiar with the Leupold Freedom RDS BDC w/mount?
I just spoke with Leupold about this, and they said that it would be no problem putting this on the 45-70. Thank you again for thinking about that question. -

New rifle suggestions
Take a look at putting a muzzle brake on it to tame that recoil. I had shoulder surgery a year ago and even my 30-06 kicked too hard for me. I put a muzzle brake on it and it now recoils like a .22. My Henry 45-70 is at the smith now having one installed. It makes shooting fun again. -

Cold feet
I also like the N-1B canvas mukluks with the felt inserts. They kept my feet really warm and were super lightweight. For Survival School I didn't have a choice; we had to wear the bunny boots. If I had my choice, I'd have taken these with me.- A207X2
