Do you have a preference as it pertains to light color when walking in the woods in the dark to get to your tree stand? I see that headlamps are available in RGB colors as well as white. I've always used white light, but I'd like to learn if there's any practical advantages to using red light...
Great moose! Congratulations. I have an Alberta moose hunt booked for next year at this time. Who was your outfitter, and where where you hunting? I'll be in WMU 524 up in the Peace River area.
How much did he dress out to, and how did you get him home?
I have 3 different "deer" rifles; 30-06, 45-70, and .44 Mag. Depending on where I'm hunting will decide which rifle I use. If I'm shooting beyond 200 yards, it's the 30-06. Out to 150 yards it's the 30-06 or the 45-70, and out to 100 yards it's any of the three. Hunting from a stand on...
They are quite nasty animals. That Nat Geo article above was an amazing read. My wife videoed three of them on our lake on the shore. When one of them yawned, they showed the mouth of a German Shepherd.

Yes, I agree - which is what had me worried about using them.
Not sure if the TUI is real or if it's just marketing. I understand that they keep a lot of the bullet mass intact, which IMHO should greatly aid in a double-lung impact. I'll try them out this fall. I'm also a big fan of Buffalo...
UPDATE: I spoke with a conservation officer in KY on the phone, and he admitted he was stumped regarding the question. I sent him the manufacturers information (links) and he got back with me: "I’m not a gun expert but I would say those are fine to hunt with." So at least I've got it in...
Planning on doing a deer hunt in KY this fall, and "Full metal jacketed or tracer bullet ammunition is prohibited". I want to use Fort Scott 45-70 GOVERNMENT SCS® TUI® - 300GR AMMO which is a solid copper spun bullet. Pretty sure I'm OK with it, but better to check it out. I'll contact KY...
I am a member on a shotgun forum. Each year there is a get-together on a pheasant hunt at a hunt in SW Missouri. We get about 8-10 guys together and enjoy a weekend of hunting. Yes, they're caged pheasants that are put out before the hunt, but they a scattered over very large fields. The...
Had a border collie who had a similar problem. Vet told us to clip them frequently - even though they didn’t really grow. He said to trim them anyways as that will help them to grow. It will also move back the quick by frequently clipping them. Took awhile but it worked.
They made the HUGE mistake of showing up on radar. It's stupid to create a "militia" these days as they will IMMEDIATELY show up as an "extreme right-wing domestic terror group". As you stated above, join the National Guard, or if you live in a state such as mine (Florida) join the State...
"A well-regulated militia" - "well-regulated" means (meant) modern, well supplied; militia means (per 10 USC § 246) any and all males between 17 - 45 (Organized and Unorganized)
"being necessary to the security of a free state" - in order to have a government free of threats, enemies (both...
