Do you carry a pistol for bear when elk hunting???

When rifle hunting I don't carry a handgun as I'm not proficient enough with it to offset the danger I'd be to my hunting partners under the stress and chaos of an attack. I might if bow hunting in griz country as backup to spray. I say carry what you are most proficient with and accurate with...

I intentionally don't count my guns so when someone (wife) asks how many, I can say I don't know,

    SOLD Blaze knife

Dad lost one in Colorado that I made for him as a Christmas gift. Thinks he lost it while pulling some stuff out of his pack while hiking in 12-14 inches of snow. We retraced his path but no luck. I've looked for it every year since with no luck. He wears his new one on his belt now instead of...

    OIL Antelope taxidermist

Know of one in north central Indiana that does excellent work. He only does shoulder mounts and wait times are right around a year or so last time I checked. If you decide to bring it back east it wouldn't be as far to pick it up when done. It's called Woodside Taxidermy

ID refuses to send wolves to CO, joining WY and MT.

Maybe they should listen to the people that already have wolves. How much money will they have to spend? Where's that money going to come from? What about listening to the people that will have to deal with the wolves, instead of the big city dumb@$$#$. How many hours/years of court battles will...

    50 or 45 caliber inline?

.50 cal is minimum for elk in Colorado for elk. If not interested in chasing elk .45 works well for deer size critters.

Colorado OTC - How bad is it

It all depends on where you go. I've been at trailheads that were loaded with trucks and camps everywhere, but most only ventured about a mile in. Three to four miles in didn't even find boot tracks in the snow. Other units one or two trucks at the trailhead and found guys five to six miles in...

    Suppressed Hunting Rifle Video

I shot a lot as a kid with no hearing protection (ear pro was for pansies)by my mid twenties I could already tell my hearing was getting worse so started wearing plugs or muffs, (grew up a little bit)when shooting targets, but not for hunting. Last several years I have to do a lot of lip reading...

    Suppressed Hunting Rifle Video

Suppressed hunting is the way to go. Saves your and your hunting partners hearing, allows you to hear bullet impact, and possibly more likely to get a second shot in. Kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Got one form four can, and working on getting two form one cans.

Am I Making a Mistake? - Tarp Tent w/ Down Bag

I have tarp camped in third rifle elk season, so normally cold and snowy, but it has actually rained a few times. I always make a pine boughs bed about 10-12" inches thick to get off the ground to avoid moisture transfer and to add a bit insulation from the ground. Has worked great if I picked...
