Based on what you already have I would do a 6mm of some sort for the versatility, I love the 243.
Do you reload? if so and you go 257, I would do a 257 ackley, my old man bought one off a friend last year and I have been tinkering and reloading for it. Fun to shoot and fast.
Brockel, grayboe is supposed to be coming out with the Outlander for the tikka anytime. I might hold out and see if they run the 20% off black friday sale again. I would like to have the outlander for my tikka 300wm, can't decide if I want the adjustable check rest or not though. I'm kinda...
I'm no help with the 150 but I use a lot of barnes bullets in a variety of calibers. In general, you want to shoot a barnes mono that is about 20% lighter than the standard weight cup and core bullet for the caliber. This is so the length of the bullet is comparable to a lead core bullet and...
From what I have heard and seen, mostly people paying cash from out of state. My wife's best friend works for a realtor and was telling us they have people calling telling them to start knocking on doors of houses that aren't even for sale. These people are supposedly rolling in and paying...
I don't know how they can, my wife and I have good paying jobs and building our house for 250k 8 years ago was hard to swallow. Now its worth over 500k, no way would I be willing to take on a mortgage like that.
Steve, I grew up on the eastern side of the state and since high school have lived in most of the towns you are interested in. I've been in Helena for 9, was in Missoula for 4, Butte for 5, and bozeman for one terrible summer.
Honestly, to each their own, but no way would I live in Bozeman...
Big sky is definately chill compared to that. 🤮
Being an eastern montana boy, crowds of more than a few hundred people encite fits of rage I have to try to keep down. My wife loves to take me to walmart. 😡
Lift tickets well north of 100 bucks a day and beyond crowded. I hate dealing with crowds though.....
I've never been to Vail but I've spent time in Park City, Big Sky feels a lot like Park City these days.
Now the free cookies a guy could get behind!
Just joking, Great Divide and Discovery have marginal snow at best. I would still take those over Big Sky now, that place has gotten ridiculous.
Lost trail south of Darby is probably my favorite in MT, but i haven't been on a board in years.
Montana's real estate is bizarre right now, lots of...
I would also consider an ARB awning on the trailer with the side walls. You wouldn't want it with snow considering the flat roof, but otherwise would be a pretty good alternative.
I agree with this, I enjoy seeing the adventure, not just the kill shots. Randy's day by day series for his dall sheep was probably one of my favorite hunts on any platform for the reasons you list above.
I know everyone is always looking for new content to watch that, I recently found Greg...
When I started reloading about 7 years ago, my internet research turned up a lot of recommendations to decap and clean brass before sizing. Probably shouldn't have said keeping the die clean, but keeping any crud stuck to the brass from scarring up the brass when sizing. Like I said, I have...
My aunt homesteaded in alaska in the 80's and lived there until just a few years ago. She has killed a pile of grizzlies off their place with a 45-70. Her old 45-70 is her favorite gun, she is one tough gal. It has been my experience that most people in alaska carry a 45-70 or a 12 gauge pump...
If standard cci 209s will work for you I have 200 you can have if you make it up to helena. For some reason I still have them laying around from when I reloaded shotgun shells, so I have no use for them.
