Yes, the magnets on the Marsupial harness will definitely mess up a traditional compass. I didn't have to use my compass this fall since I relied on OnX. Your list looks pretty good. You'll determine that you don't need as many extra clothes as you might think. I only used one extra pair of socks in my pack for an 8 day trip. You're correct, my bad. Their website does say military, law enforcement, federal employee. I'd give it a try though. Click on the law enforcement tab when it asks you for your profession. I'm betting when you send in your credentials it will be approved. Worth a shot.- bradr

Why my pack sucks: Kifaru, Stone Glacier, Exo, Seek, Mystery Ranch, Kuiu, etc.
I use the Initial Ascent IK4. It definitely doesn't suck. It's the only pack I've owned, and I've used it on one western backpacking hunt. Pro's: Very comfortable, doesn't rub me raw anywhere.
