There was some discussion about the new IRs agents I was reading a Pro Publica article and found it interesting. I think it is based on number of audits per county vs the national average. My guess is like any group low hanging fruit get snatched first.
Would REITs be the major thing you would be concerned about. Since we are a debt based economy I can see everything slowing down significantly, homes, cars etc.

I don't live in NY but it would not surprise if the regulations mentioned were not sold under the guise of "common sense and compromise". I am not sure how much more I am willing to compromise.
Given the connection between gov't and tech in order to suppress speech that it did not like, is it really unfathomable to suggest that gov't pressures big finance to create a back door registry? I know I am probably being paranoid but the last couple of years have not been very reassuring.
