Glad to see something being done for the benefit of sheep.
Hopefully the plan can continue through without being held up in protest until all the sheep are gone.
Just wanted to share a Sitka warranty/repair experience.
Have a mountain jacket that the zipper was separating on.
Filled out the info on the Sitka webpage and received a shipping label for Rainy Pass Repair.
Sent the jacket off and received it back with a new zipper and they added a Sitka...

Hopefully this turns out well and doesn't end up as a private sheep hunting club.
@Oak do you have a read on this?
Randy you deserve to be commended, for the incredible hunt and specimen of a goat of course but more so for the concern you have for others during a moment that many would be of the me me me mindset.
Lots of scenarios where it was a poor decision to shoot but a few that could have had a different anticipation of the result.
Like buck jumped the string or it was a second shot and believed there was already an arrow in him.
But what a bummer to see that on any animal.
Congrats on the elk and glad you made it off the mountain.
2nd on having a fool proof way to start a fire. Add a road flare to your pack.
What was the result of the SOS being activated? Did Garmin send a text to you accessing the situation?
Most situations will seem easy after this one.
Remove fancy pants for the crossing?
I swung a leg over a loose top wire the other day to land in soft mud of a cow trail the other day. Luckily it didn't end poorly
Colorado has several studies on detriment of Wildlife disturbance. Mostly elk but maybe get those handy for follow up conversations.
Get a local group to sign on as a sponsor, archery club or something.
More mtn bike trails are not what we need here so I applaud your efforts
Same as above but I've also added to #1
"In response to a question, YES"
#2
"In response to a question. NO"
it's only a few cents but a penny saved is a penny earned.
And perhaps more importantly is a time saver.
GSL reached a record low as well. Tough times and likely tougher times ahead

I've heard a few guys mention the genetics of their herd. I didn't realize how important of a factor it is.
Definitely a tough time for all but it's hard to see more range damage from domestic stock during years like this.
There will be archery elk and deer hunters going till the day before your season.
Riding around talking to deer and spike elk hunters could produce great intel.
With the FS being a multi use agency for the public what would it take for them to realize that the majority prefer wild sheep to domestic?
A WSF volunteer at each trailhead surveying users of which they'd rather see?
Check out this well done storyboard of sheep in Nevada. Includes brief info on historic ranges, recovery efforts etc.

Didn't want to hi-jack Randy's thread on the AZ auction. These sheep need water and the current droughts are making it tough. Kudos to all those who help make it happen.
And it ain't cheap so buy lots of tickets
This went down in UT the other day
Going where no tanker has been before
