    Remington filing for bankruptcy?

Chapter 11 is a period for reorganization and credit negotiations. It is not a death sentence, and many companies come out much stronger. Nobody knows what the future holds.

    .375 Ruger vs .375 H&H

I have rifles chambered in both cartridges and have used them quite a bit on game. The H&H does have a better ammo availability if needed, but the Ruger is becoming much easier to find. I can see no difference in their effect on game at all. The H&H has a "cool" factor with it's history but...

Question about wearing orange in CO

On a hot Wyoming afternoon couple of years ago I was getting ready to shoot a pronghorn doe and luckily saw some odd movement that stopped me. Some guy without any orange on was in a small depression a couple hundred yards behind my doe field dressing his pronghorn. He was dressed in camo and...

    Barnes 160gr TSX (7MM Mag)

I have not had good luck with the 160 TSX, but the TTSX seems much better. I had a very odd experience with a 160 grain TSX once on a Kudu (elk size) and have had other times that I do not believe the TSX opened properly. The TTSX has been reliable on several hunts for elk-sized game. I like...

Guiding a friend in CO unit 76

I have spent a lot of time in that unit. Deep Creek trail is not where I would hunt. The very top of Snowshoe and down the side ridges are not really a bad choice. I often see elk high on the North slopes of Snowshoe, but I have seen many more on the other side. The South side of Snowshoe...

    Processing time

Yellowstone has been my favorite processor for a few years now, but I have had good work done by Dan's also. Pat's is a favorite of some other fellows. All of them are good and will do a rush job for next day pickup. Expect to pay the extra fee for the rush service. Yellowstone is out by...

    WV Whitetails.

The Lewis County area is not where the largest bucks in the state normally are taken but should be a good hunt. 600 acres is a very large farm for that area and hopefully it will not be crowded with other hunters. Most of the larger deer in WV are taken during archery season using corn for...

Gloves, Knee Pads, & Elbow Pads for stalking

I almost never have my kneepads on but keep a pair with me for the rare occasion that they are needed. I have never seen anyone use elbow pads. Leather gloves are a very good idea for gates, fences, etc. and do offer some protection from cactus needles. It is easy to slip the gloves off when...

    Boots for Pronghorn Hunting

Cactus can ruin good boots quickly. Boots are my most important piece of elk hunting gear, but walking a bit and dealing with cactus for pronghorns is completely different. Any comfortable pair of uninsulated ankle high leather boots with tough soles will work quite well for chasing...

Wyoming Elk Area 7 -- Difficult access? Confused...

Early in the season elk in #7 are spread out to areas that include public land, but either weather or pressure will change that quickly. Later in the season I think most of the elk in #7 will be spending their time on the private land.

    10 WY points - Unit 62, 64, 67 or 68?

I would bet that you will be a target of the guys that want to share your points in exchange for their "expertise". I once posted that I was burning a pile of points for 62 and got PM's quickly, mostly saying that they would help (guide) if I did a group application with them. I did not take...

    125 grain 30-06

A very good friend of mine spent a whole summer trying to find a light bullet for his 30-06 that was accurate and consistent for use on deer and pronghorns. He is an accomplished benchrest shooter. He finally settled on the Barnes product but was never really very happy with the results. He...

    Over/Under 12 Gauge Recommendation

For me the choice was Beretta. I simply shot it better than the Browning. Both are fine shotguns that should be appreciated by the next generation, or two.

    1

There is a good bit of BLM land in unit 73 but as it is just outside of Casper and there are a lot of buck and doe tags there are times that it seems over flowing with hunters. Trucks and UTVs racing around like it is a NASCAR event at the beginning of the season and on weekends should be expected.

First Antelope Hunt - WY - Veterans

CIB in 1971. Ancient history, and thankfully the public's treatment of vets and their attitude have improved.

First Antelope Hunt - WY - Veterans

When you mention the PH and the CIB's I would bet that you will find a place to hunt. When I got out many years ago it was best not to mention a CIB but thankfully the U.S. is a better place now for vets. Good hunting.

First Antelope Hunt - WY - Veterans

Since you mentioned Wounded Warriors I am assuming that all of you were combat vets with Purple Hearts. If that is the case you should state that clearly and probably more doors will be open for you.

    Bino opinions please

The Nikon 7 is a very good buy in that price range, and is excellent. Check some bird watching forums. Bird watchers are very serious about binoculars.
